Halo 4 Preview | T3

The fate of a video game company is almost always intertwined with that of its mascot. Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, even Crash Bandicoot to an extent, set their respective companies on the pixelated path to success, even if Sony did force Crash into early retirement, probably against his wishes.

It’s ironic then, that the universally recognisable visor of Microsoft Studios and Xbox is actually rather a boring cliché. A heavily-armoured, superhuman soldier? Hardly a ring-obsessed, lightning-fast, electric blue hedgehog is it? No matter though - Master Chief has become an icon, and he’s carried the fortunes of Microsoft Studios on his bulky, metal shoulders ever since. (Halo 4, Xbox 360)
