Is The Walking Dead FPS Convincing?

As a big fan of The Walking Dead in all its forms, I entered the Gamescom presentation of this survival-FPS with one hope: that the doubt I’ve felt since Activision announced the game last month will be put down for good by a crossbow bolt to the brain. By the close of the session, I’m heartened by some of what I’ve seen and heard, but the doubt still lingers. I wish I could say otherwise, I really do. (PC, PS3, The Walking Dead: Season 2 - Episode 1 "All That Remains", Xbox 360)

In sort "meh" but no gameplay has been shown so basically he's saying that the "meh" could go to "wow" once he's seen gameplay or it could go to crap.

I agree with him, nothing has been seen of gameplay so who knows what we're in for.

As long
as its not an over the top action game I am fine with it being FPS, FPS can be engaging when done right, this game needs to have the right atmosphere for it to work.

Being attached to Activision worries me.

Part of the reason why I love Telltale's Walking Dead series is that the point-and-click adventure format is such a breath of fresh air from your standard zombie-shooter.

And it's actually a format that's turning out to be a brilliant vehicle for exploring the zombie apocalypse - putting the focus back firmly on the survivors, their interactions, and the difficulties they face.

Even though it's Activision, I was interested until I heard who the main characters were. They're the last people I'd want to play as in a Walking Dead game. I'll still keep an eye on this simply because I can't get enough zombie killing, but I remain highly doubtful that this will end up as anything but mediocre at best.

I am disagreeing only in that I think the two characters actually should prove to be quite interesting. I hated Merl in the show, and took time to grow to like Daryl as I just figured he was just like his brother. As I watch, I see Daryl is a much deeper character than we have been led to believe early in the series. I am hoping this game can explore his background and also really play on the fact that Merl is a racist piece of crap that constantly is putting you in tough spots.

Walking dead episode 1&2 were entertaining in my opinion. Unique style. I wanna beat it two ways: nice lee and asshole lee. Like eating up all the rations instead of saving them.

I have some cautious hope for this one. Given the recent news that Day Z is going to get its own stand alone release it will be interesting to see how the two stack up.

I hope as stated in the videos that the human to human interaction plays a bigger role in that your decisions will affect things. Its one of the brilliant parts of the Walking Dead Telltale game and I want to see that kind of dialogue tree stuff used more in these kinds of games.
