DSOGaming writes: "Crytek’s nanosuit FPS appeared on the PC in 2007. Although it was a graphical masterpiece and was criticized by some PC gamers for its system requirements, it was profidable and made the company realize that it had something good on its hands. But did you know that Crytek was also developing – back in 2008 – a game that looked similar Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us?"
Update Obvious typo that wasn't fixed since I was away. It's profitable, not profidable
I'm afraid that is not the case. If you have read the recent ND interviews, the project immediately started after Uncharted 2. The U2 directors wanted to redefine "storytelling" in videogames - a misinterpreted statement that caused sent the gaming media into a wildfire. The ex-crytek staff must of heard of such a project, and considering the circumstances, may be the very reason why he joined ND in the first place.
The Last of Us takes place in a city with infected(zombies) and survivors.
Crytek's game takes place in a forest. Just humans.
Concept art from both games look nothing alike either.
The only real similarity is the man and the girl.
This game - Takes place in forest. Man and girl. No zombies, just humans.
So what Man and girl?
And also, who cares if its rip off or not. Im not play or buy video games and look if its rip off or not. I buy and play games beucase they are fun.
Do your research buddy
If you can then GTFO.
But alas, only an idiot will attempt to make fun of someone who calls TloU infected Zombies. Semantics at best. The serve the same purpose. Horde ~ Bite/end.
Looks like 50% of the games ever made!
Actually I get more of a Half Life 2 / Alan Wake vibe.
But like I said a guy and a girl outside being chased is a scene in so many games and Movies that picking out just one is kinda weird. I'm sure everyone else reading this has a different game they could name that looks similar.
It turned crysis into call of duty and they hoped they would profit off that crap. GARBAGE multiplayer in crysis 2. Least crysis 1 was fun multiplayer.
EDIT: yeh, the other pics gave me an alan wake vibe. speaking of which, i just fully completed it 2 days ago (the writer dlc was the last I needed).
Hard to know why it might have been buried by Crytek (maybe EA thought a Crysis 2 sequel should take precedence over a risky IP proposition), but it's interesting to note that Kuciara joined Naughty Dog. Could have definitely come to an agreement with ND whereby they release something closer to home, set in the city, but with the same initial concept.
"They was scared nd" - They're scared of Naughty Dog outperforming them (if the game was similar to TLOU).
"don't care about gfx people" - We shouldn't care about graphics because we know that's what Crytek is pretty good at doing well more so than most devs.
"best take note of nd new ai because nd like to.share with other ps developers" - We should acknowledge the new tech (the whole, realistic fighting/unscripted fighting or whatever it was called) they're using behind their game because it might be big and they'll share it with other PS devs.
I'm only guessing at what he could mean, despite his broken comment, that's as close as I could get for it to make any sense in the slightest.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
It would definitely look better than the last of us visually.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
On pc anyway.
CE3 is a beast.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
On pc anyway."
Why would anyone disagree ? its true
What would be the point in a perfectly photorealistic world if you're shooting the same mindless bot that you'd normally be shooting on todays tech?
Just having higher numbers does not make a game better.
If the power we have isn't used in a manner that actually improves the experience, why use it when you could save electricity.
Maybe, just maybe, it's because it's a stupid comparison? I mean, which looked better: Crysis 2, or Crysis 2 on PC?
Why bring up PC at all? And if you ARE gonna bring it up, why not say The Last of Us could look even better if IT were on PC?
How is it stupid if there is a big difference , that's the most ignorant thing I have ever heard , "oh look there's a big difference lets ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist" , but keep on deflecting with jealously , have fun with that.
"Why bring up PC at all? And if you ARE gonna bring it up, why not say The Last of Us could look even better if IT were on PC?"
Because Crytek is a well known PC developer and guess who is mentioned in the article .... that's right Crytek.
Would love to see just an sp game from them.
Suck it up you haters.............
Crytek makes naughty dog games look like ps1 games son!
-on pc that is, of course
graphics are far, far better looking in the crytek game, of course its running maxed on a pc, this looks freaking incredible
then again, crysis 2 maxed on pc looks out of this world good. uncharted 3 compared to crysis 2, thats like god of war 3 compared to god of war 1
it is true that crytek tech is step above naughty dog tech but it doesn't make naughty dog games look like a ps1 games, naughty dog tech is stil darn impressive compared to most engines out there
In order to get that type of quality on PC, you have to have a high end video card to get that type of quality, especially with the latest video that crytek showed out. AND BTW CRYSIS ON CONSOLE LOOKS LIKE SHIT COMPARED TO UNCHARTED, NOT EVEN CLOSE LOL
Other than that, in terms of gameplay and STORY TELLING, Naughty dog makes crytek look silly
Tell me WHO GOT THE MOST GOTY AWARDS , THE LAST TIME I CHECK CRYSIS DIDN'T GET SHIT AND UNCHARTED GOT AWARD WINNING STAMPS ALL AROUND THEIR STUDIO
ABOUT THAT SON! WHAT YOU GOT NOW HOMIE LOL
The point im trying to make is, no matter how similar a game is to another game.. If it means endless hours of fun who are we to complain?
