Darksiders II dev: “you won’t need to have played the first game to enjoy it”

Darksiders II creative director Joe Madureira has been talking about how the game’s story is a standalone narrative, taking place alongside the events of the first game and not requiring any previous experience to understand. (Darksiders 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

mmm ok I did not play the first one.

I played the demo. It was nothing but a mediocre game (demo) for me.

yea and a demo is very much representative of the full game...

Anyway, the game was excellent and I cant wait to get my hands on this sequel, I hope it will be even better

the first was fantastic, can't wait to play this one, and the next, and the next.

4 horsemen, 4 games.. and a 5th having them all playable.

Most unlikely . They already wanted all four in the sequel , but realised they didnt have the tech to do it with Darksiders 2 , so settled for a still great adventure with Death taking place alongside Darksiders 1 .

They wont leave us hanging for that many years hoping to see what happens after the end of DS1

agreed, but i'm sure there will be more if DS2 succeeded.

let's see how it goes.

but heres the thing im confused how could it be taking place alongside the first game if they didnt come crashing down to earth till the end of the game?
vakarian75  +   313d ago
They already confirmed that strife and fury are in darksiders 2 and death wasn't in 1 and darksiders 2 doesn't show what happens after 1 it takes place during the events of 1 and 2 doesn't take place on earth it takes place in the nether realm where he is trying to prove his brothers innocence. And by how 1 ended there might be a game with all 4.

Which is where they lost my interest. The ending of the first game with that angel broad telling War he'd be facing both the armies of heaven and hell alone, then the other 3 plummeting to earth behind him? Yeah, let's just go back in time and ignore that cliffhanger.
segamon  +   313d ago
this means DS3 will be the continuation of the events of both DS1 and DS2 starting right where DS1 ended.

i bet the very last scene in DS2 ending will be the scene where the remaining horsemen join War at the end of DS1.

this is when DS3 begins, maybe on next gen consoles.

I think that if they make a game four all 4 that they'll all take place during the events of the first and if they make another all 4 are going to be in it an it'll take place after 1.
