Some things in 'Halo 4' only possible with 8GB hard drive requirement
XMNR: It was revealed on Tuesday that Halo 4's Infinity multiplayer would require 8GB of hard drive space on the Xbox 360. 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor later responded to some of the complaints from fans of the series.
(Halo 4, Xbox 360)
I would rather have a better game anyway. Personally, I would love if next Gen had upgradeable memory and graphics cards to let those who want to spend the money could be able to use high settings like a pc. This way, it's life cycle would be extended and if policy choose they can play on lower settings. I think it's a great way to get back many lost to pc as well as keeping consoles relevant. If I could buy more memory or update the graphics card on the 360 or ps3, I would do it. It would also allow creators to always push the boundaries of things other than graphics. Also, I beloved that console will have to move in this direction eventually, until everything is streamed.
You still can. If you don't have a harddrive or enough room, just pick up a cheap 8 Gig USB stick. I just went to Newegg for example and put in "8 gig usb drive" and got a whole page of them for $5.99. We're only talking about an extra $6 here for a handful of people that really should have a thumb drive already. In fact, you might already have one laying around that would work fine. I have about 3.
My point is, this is not really a big deal and it probably will allow the developers to do some amazing things with the game. I think it's a great idea to squeeze that extra bit of functionality or graphics out of the game. I install any multiplayer game I'm going to play regularly anyway to increase performance, and this ought to give the developers a little more room to make an even better game.
Respect deserves to go to 343 for commenting on detail on this issue, it's a bit of a shame, but they are right when they say, if you have a gold subscription, chances are you have a hdd. For those that don't then it's gonna depend on whether or not it's worth the extra investment. Plus it's not out till November, more than enough time to get prepared!
why own a xbox if ur going to get the 4gb version? every single game would suck balls if u couldnt install them.. save up a little more & get the 160 or 250 or whatever it is they sell now.. or u can buy a real gaming system like ps3
I then split it so 10 gig can be used for xbox saves and the rest I just use for normal pc files etc.
It is a bit "lean" that MS saw fit to only throw 4gig in, but at the same time, if you want the full experience who says you have to spend money on a whole new HD or the official xbox Mem units when everyone knows they are overpriced and MS has given us the option of using any usb drive? it's not that big a deal in my opinion.
Great...
