Xbox LIVE Free Weekend Announced

Microsoft Studios has today announced that the latest Xbox LIVE free period will take place over the coming weekend, from Friday, 15th June 2012 until Sunday, 17th June. The Xbox LIVE free weekend will offer all Xbox LIVE Gold restricted features to all owners of the videogame console.

You don't have the choice. You want to use the free apps, you pay, you want to play online, you pay, you want to try a demo asap you pay... Those things are free @steam @nintendo and @sony.... Don't try to deny that, you'll fail.

I highly agree with pr0digyZA.
They should be charging 20 for a year just for the features and 60 for full on access like free games and stuff kinda like PS+. Dont you think we deserve it. I mean we are basically sticking with them even when we know the XBOX has no exclusives whatsoever. And the ones they do have are quite OLD and tired. I dont know about you guys but i for one am getting quite tried. Im thinking of rebuying a PS3. My Slim died out a few months back. Bought myself a VITA and im loving that handheld. But now its time to rebuy the PS3!

There seems to be alot of live free weekends popping up. Makes me wonder if they do it to get new 360 owners online or if they have lost so many users they are trying to get them back.

They do one almost once a month, its nothing new. It just doesn't always get publicity.

They haven't lost any users, last I hear they had around 40 million Gold members.

The free weekends are to entice people that might not know how great the Gold Membership really is, or all it involves.

Big deal I say. I have been a gold member for 5 years and still haven't gotten any thing free e.g games. I have had PS+ for 2 days and got 10 free games. I may not renew my live subscription when it's up.

$200 actually I never paid full price. But still I should be more clear. I got it so I could Play online with my kids that are grown. The thing is we never do play online together. So for me it has been a waste of money and a poor decision on my behalf. So I won't be renewing my Gold. I play SP games all the time anyways.

People always say "if you don't want it you don't have to buy it ". That is only half true, you don't have to buy it. But without it you can't play on line or access their other online services. Seeing how their most popular titles are very popular on line, I would say yes you have to buy it.

There are other options as far as consoles are concerned. Hell, most of the people here say Xbox 360 doesn't have any games anyway, so get your gaming on PS3, Wii, or PC.

You aren't forced to buy Gold, I actually know a couple of Xbox 360 owners who don't play online at all. If you are making investments into the video game hobby and lifestyle, I think you need to be prepared to pay for it. You can get XBL for around $30 a year from a lot of different places.

I think XBL Gold is just another one of those things people that don't even have Xbox's like to complain about. Sort of how PS3 owners seem to like the idea of having a ton of exclusives more than actually buying them.
