In the end I still prefer New Leaf, one of the most important factors being the breakable tools. It gets pretty annoying when you have to keep making bug nets, fishing rods etc in New Horizons.

Demo is out now.

Another DMC style game sounds good. Although it's time for a new game in that series as well I'd say.

Sure there are several factors, but the user base is one of them too. 30 million Switch consoles vs 5 million PS5s is a context to keep in mind when directly comparing sales.

Peach sold around 10,000 more with six times the user base. So it's kind of weird to argue that it did 'amazing' and the other two did bad. Taking the user base into account you would expect a far higher difference actually.

Metacritic 76, generally favorable. Not shitty.

Good to see the commitment to physical media.

Sure, but also because quite a few came out in a short amount of time: Yakuza 8, Persona 3, Granblue and Rebirth al released in Q1 of 2024.

Five JRPGs in the top 10.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering too. Hopefully it will be tested by doesitplay.org

That number is looking at the value as well from what I understand.

"The easing of global chip shortages and attractive game
exclusives drove PS5 sales up sharply, rising by 55% in
volume to over 1.2m units and 46% in value to £529m,
making it the dominant console in the market with a 57%
share of total spend in 2023."

Still catching up on this series. I recently beat Trails to Azure and Cold Steel III. Still need to play Cold Steel IV and Reverie before this. Great series though!

"PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2016 are up by over 224,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by nearly 20,000 units. PS4 sold 1,161,413 units for the month of January 2017 and Xbox One sales were at 471,865 units."

Still outselling PS4, impressive.

Maybe if/when it comes to PS5 it can get a physical version. Like what happened with Hi-fi Rush and Pentiment.

I'm really hoping the Switch successor is backwards compatible, because I have quite a backlog for the system, including several RPGs like Bravely II, Octopath Traveler I and II and Fire Emblem Engage.
