In theory it is expected that a small percentage of some new hardware will break right after it will powereed on, it is the normal life expectancy of a new piece of equipment. So this is not new news.
It would be interesting to see if the overall build quality justifies the premium price. I have my doubts.
the big miss is the lack of OLED screen, which is a not go for me.

Killer2020UK1d 16h ago

The OLED screen has almost certainly been held back for a planned mid cycle refresh. There will also be some element of pricing, if it had an OLED screen at launch the unit would likely be even more expensive and we've all seen how the current pricing has gone down with people.

How much is a dock for that damn thing if they want $180 to “repair” that one? No way in hell that dock is that expensive.
Nintendo will Nintendo I guess.

Good-Smurf2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I just looked on their website and they ask $120 for a dock.
Last week I got Switch Lite from Japan for $150.
The price they're asking for a Switch 2 dock is highway robbery.
"Ooh we've put the fan in its high technology that's some cutting-edge shit!"
You'll pay top dollar for plasticky dock with a fan in it.

120 bucks?

My gawd. This is truly horrible.

$180 to repair a 2-week-old item that should be covered by at least a 1-year warranty.

notatallsurprisinggg1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

Should? it literally is covered... all he had to do was go instore and exchange or return it. Are people too stupid to realise this?

hiawa232d ago

Damn, glad I got that 3 year Walmart warranty for $49

andy851d 20h ago

Don't you already get warranty included though?

LonDonE1d 11h ago

ye same, considering the issues with stick drift i made sure to get my extended 4 years warranty from the retailer i bought it from. Its money well spent for peace of mind and knowing i can insta swap it out should an issue crop up.
Especially as its a handheld too.. but saying that my switch launch edition and switch lite both work fine still.
Just the dreaded stick drift occurred on my right joy con, granted nintendo offered to fix it out of warranty but i had to mail it in to them and i couldn't be ass.. just used my pro controllers.. i never use it portable anyway and likely wont use the switch 2 portably as prefer playing on the main screen to each there own.

User above should of had it covered in warranty standard unless they felt it was damaged by user...

It couldn't handle its $90 games.

Nintendo Switch 2 Review - IGN

A vital but unexciting upgrade to an already great console.

phatak3h ago

damn thats low for a major nintendo console, while the switch 2 will probably get better over the years, the initial review of 7 from a major outlet will always be there, same thing happened with days gone, way better game today that the initial reviews suggest, wont affect nintendo sales one bit tho, looks like nintento played it super safe this generation.

jznrpg1h ago

The library will get better over the years but it will be further behind in power when new consoles come out in 2-3 years.

NotoriousWhiz1h ago

And PS5 (and the new PS5 handheld) will be supported for 2-3 years after that. So maybe 2-3 years after that, devs might maybe start skipping switch 2 due to lack of power.

phatak2m ago(Edited 2m ago)

nintendo consoles in recent times have never been about power tho, they will follow the same playbook of wii and switch, both weaker than their competitors but still outsold them

Jin_Sakai2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

When Nintendo release gimmicks it’s not good enough and when they release a solid successor it’s not good enough.

The launch lineup is weak. Needs a new Mario or Zelda.

repsahj41m ago

They said the same thing with Switch 1. Look how successful it is now. And there's a very good chance it will happen again with Switch 2.
