[4K] Xbox Games Showcase 2025 | The Outer Worlds 2 Direct

Make some space on your calendar – the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST. This year we will again have a double feature, with the Xbox Games Showcase immediately followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.

It all begins with our annual Xbox Games Showcase, bringing you a look at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners around the globe.

Immediately following Showcase, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.

ANOTHER EPIC SHOWCASE!!!

stoney1016d ago

Great showcase IMO, was looking forward to see which games will get some Switch 2 ports but I guess as the Xbox ROG Ally was shown that will come another time. Looks like a solid piece of hardware although with the naming scheme I guess in a way it seems like this is the beginning of Microsoft no longer developing their own hardware and relying on third parties to do it for them with the Xbox brand slapped on it. I know they've already talked about the next gen Xbox in development previously but it does make me wonder whether we will see any future Xbox hardware developed by Microsoft themselves in the future.

RaidenBlack6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Ok, just wanna say ... dont hype Xbox showcase just to fill in half of the show with live-service games' season/patch updates. Keep ESO, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves etc contents in a pre-show ... I'd rather see more promising indie games, than live service update trailers.
Other than that ... the show was fine? Finally some updates from inXile and Double Fine.
But the end '1 more thing' was the annual CoD? Weird choice ... Could've kept Clockwork or Silksong there instead.

Funny how almost nothing you asked for was shown.

Not even new footage from Perfect Dark, Fable or Gears.

-Foxtrot5d ago

Yet it’s still a perfect showing to him, that’s the hilarious part

Obscure_Observer5d ago

"Not even new footage from Perfect Dark, Fable or Gears."

Perfect Dark already had it´s fantastic gameplay reveal in 2024 which shut the mouths of dumb people claiming that the game were in development hell and restarted from the scratch.

About the other games you mentioned, Phil already teased Forza, Halo, Fable and Gears for next year´s Xbox Showcase celebrating 25 years of Xbox!

Just in case you missed:

"I'm excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day and the return of a classic that's been with us from the beginning,"

Next year´s Xbox is gonna be LEGENDARY!

You forgot to add 80$ games that aren’t on the disc

Percent chance of each studio from the Xbox game studios.

Halo Studios. Last game Halo Infinite in late 2021. Working on something else Halo 1 remake possibly or a sequel. Certain Affinity was making a Halo game but it got cancelled? Apparently?

50% If the Certain affinity Halo game isn't cancelled I can see it being there. However there's also a big chance that nothing Halo Related shows up.

The Coalition: Gears 5 in 2019. Took a hiatus to master Unreal Engine and revealed Gears 5 last year. 2026 release.

30% I think they're gonna go cold and skip this year. Wait until next year to show Gameplay.
Compulsion Games: South Of Midnight release in 2024.

5% maybe updates or expansion but I doubt it.

Double Fine: last Game Psychonaughts 2 in 2021. New IP in the works. Some are hoping they're working on Banjo.

80% they announce their new game and I think it's their new IP not Banjo or any other legacy IP.

The Initiative: hard at work on Perfect Dark Reboot collaborating with Crystal Dynamics.

10% they'll show up. I think this could be a 26 title but it's possibly a 27 title imo.
NXile Entertainment: clock Work Revolution. Last revealed showcase 2023

75% it's shows up. I think they're ready to show more with a 26 release. One of my most anticipated.

Mojang Studios: last a game Minecraft legends 2023.

60% theyll show up. Updates or announce a new game maybe.

Ninja Theory: last game Hell Blade 2 in 2024 coming to PS5 this summer.

50% only reason is because they teased something on twitter several weeks ago. Could be PS5 HB2 could be Project Mara. I don't think Mara is anything tbh or a new game. They recently green lit something.

Obsidian Entertainment: released Avowed now Out worlds 2

100%

Playground Games: Forza Horizon 5 in 2021 and now working on Fable reboot.

1% That delay means they have nothing to share for by he rest of this year imo. Could be at the Xbox direct early 2026.

Rare: working on Everwild.

70% it shows up. I think it's time they're ready to show off this project. Surprise fall 2025 game?

turn 10 Forza Motorsports release in 2023.

5% they show up. Maybe for some updates buy I even doubt that.

Undead Labs: State Of Decay 3 in development.

80% then show up. Gameplay details and some deep dives on the story. Apparently they're working on something else but I doubt they'll show it off. Not my type of game but I know many are excited for it.

World's Edge: don't know much about this studio.

70% sure something age of Empires related.

Zenimax online studios: elderscrolls online

70% they show up. Announce a new MMO IP.

ID software: Doom The Dark ages released in 2025.

0% they're probably on vacation.

Machine games: Indian Jones: In The Great Circle.

20% they might be working on the Wolfenstein game. Doubt they're ready to show it off.

Activision: COD of course 100% remakes and remasters 90% Tony Hawk 3+4, New Prototype announced? 2% way too soon and no remasters of the old ones either. Marvel Ultimate Alliance remake/remaster. 50% they were trying to renew the license so who knows.

Greenburge said temper expectations. While Phil is excited for brand new reveals. Here we go the classic mix messaging from MS.

dveio6d ago

I think Greenburg was right.

Which isn't suprising looking at Spencer's statements history.

Elda6d ago

I have to say for me....this is the second time in a row that the XB showcase was enjoyable. Most titles shown will be multi-platform for everyone to play & several interesting first party titles as well as some third party will launch day one on Gamepass which I will definitely be renewing my yearly subscription for 2026.

Sonic18816d ago

Playing it on PC gamepass changes everything for me. Now if Sony releases their games day one on PC, I won't need a console

Petebloodyonion6d ago

I expect Sony to keep the current format for big single players, meaning a delay between PC and PS5.

Obscure_Observer6d ago

Look no further than Marvel Tokon!

Looks glorious!

Anti-capitalist RPG The Outer Worlds 2 is Xbox’s first $80 game, an obvious Game Pass marketing push

Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 costs $80 on launch, and it’s a sign that Xbox Game Pass isn’t the saviour many want it to be.

Lol why single out gamepass, didnt sony former ceo just said last month prices are too low it should be higher🙄 and big Nintendo said the same thing.

Take 2 talk about charging 100$ for Gta 6 and Nba smh Microsoft just happen to have an option call gamepass that other doesnt.

IAMRealHooman4d ago

" Easing Into Higher Game Prices
A smarter route, Layden assures, would've been to gradually increase game prices around $5 each console generation. That way, hitting $80 or even $90 wouldn't feel like such a shock now. “Your purchasing power, compared to your cost of living, is much smaller now than it was before."

Shawn Layden to level up

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@Sonyslave
Because currently only MS is actually doing it?

Also, PlayStation does have its own service, the difference is that MS is pushing its users toward gamepass-only/service future.

On topic:
Lol the irony of “anti capitalist game” charging more based on market forces was a good one.

Obscure_Observer4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

A very convenient push indeed.

On behalf of my pockets, thank you Gamepass!

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Lol 😆 that spin. Do you get dizzy?

goken3d ago

By now we should know he’s a professional… doesn’t know the meaning of dizzy

Obscure_Observer3d ago

What spin?

I have been a Gamepass subscriber since 2017!

Now with games costing $80 I have even more reasons to continue! XD

S2Killinit2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

@goken
Lol yeah i don't know what I was thinking.

MrDead4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Anti-capitalist game from a publisher that was brought out by one of the worst examples of capitalism, MS. Also MS supporting Israel's actions in Gaza makes this an even bigger joke, they really are the big evil.

"In short, Microsoft have been supplying the Israeli military with gigantic storage service, 19,000 hours of technical support, and the latest innovations in computing.

The Guardian found that the leaked documents “illustrate how the US tech behemoth supported a range of sensitive activities” including managing the movement of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Microsoft engineers have been providing support to Israel through their analysis of “visual intelligence” – likely the innumerable drones used by the Israeli military. The scale of Microsoft’s support is such that it is providing the infrastructure of genocide, as the Guardian report:"

https://www.thecanary.co/gl...

Not only are MS vile greedy piggies charging $80 for a game, their actions elsewhere are pure evil.

crazyCoconuts4d ago

great. now we get to conflate gaming with economics, politics, and ethics. I'm sure this will go well.

MrDead4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

MS made these choices, and a anti-capitalist game who's publisher being owed by an evil company that could come from Outer Worlds universe seems like a bad joke... but here we are.

Cellblock114d ago

Economics and politics to perhaps a lesser degree but lets not pretend for one second people haven't been conflating gaming with ethics for quite a while now.

Tacoboto4d ago

You're wasting your time. The US voted to erase Gaza from the map by electing Trump and you're whining about Microsoft on a low-trafficked gaming website that can't even stay online 23 out of 24 hours in a given day.

MrDead3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

If you have such issue with someone bringing up MS on this "low traffic website" stop"whining" about it go somewhere else

Tacoboto3d ago

You're not just bringing up Microsoft, you're whining about geopolitics to a group of people whose biggest concerns are video games costing more money or video games having a useless physical disc.

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

My understanding is that israel deprived them of international aid to starve them, then they are strategically supplying food further and further south so that the Palestinians would move further and further south to where there is chance of food, so that Israel can occupy the emptied land. It’s crazy this is happening in 21st century. Not cool at all.

victorMaje4d ago

No rush, I’ll be waiting for a price drop.

raWfodog4d ago

Problem solved. Xbox and PS games tend to drop in price very quickly over time. Don't be in a rush to buy the game at launch, and you can usually get a much improved (patched) version of the game for cheaper when it goes on sale months later.
