I've read the opposite in leaks/rumors ... that it is a change in gameplay tone (reinvention of the franchise) but it'll be less action and more survival oriented and in 3rd person perspective.

So they kind of retcon the majority of stuff from RE1-3 in a ways, meaning there was still a coverup to what exactly went down RE1-3.

I believe even in RE4/5 those are local only “event's”. Makes it interesting for continuity aspects.

I take it the main character is related to Alyssa Ashcroft from resident evil outbreak games? Are the outbreak games considered cannon?

I know Alyssa was apart of RE7 in the form of a newspaper. I'm trying to work out a timeline. If outbreak was cannon then Alyssa was roughly in her 20s during outbreak as it was set hours before RE2/3. So if this main character is her daughter she wouldn't of been born during outbreak so my guess is it's set 20+ years after outbreak/2/3?

I really wish they had given us more. Not that I'm upset in any way, just that I'd have liked to see some gameplay. Especially since Geoff said after the trailer that it's supposed to be a departure for the series that is a reimagining that shifts the focus, tone, and gameplay...

I didn't really see anything that showed that. So, I guess I'm just disappointed they almost lead us on and gave us little/nothing to prove it.

I know we'll get it eventually... but I don't want to wait! lol
