Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are available at Argos and Asda right now

If you haven't pre-ordered a Switch 2 console ahead of time, several UK retailers have stock available on launch day.

__y2jb24d ago

Confirmed beyond doubt that the Switch 2 did not sell out. People should vote with their wallet and not support £75 games imo.

ZycoFox24d ago

I have one being delivered today, god only knows why, I also guessed it wouldn't sell out completely. The chip has been ready for years and Nintendo purposely held it back, unsurprisingly.

Not only is it late but Mario Kart looks mostly more of the same.. And the key cards piss people off, I shouldn't be supporting them at this point. I don't know but I just miss Rare's games from the 64, they consistently delivered top notch games better than Nintendo's efforts just about every time.. Sigh

Snookies1224d ago

Or, maybe they just made a ton of extras like they said they were going to in an effort to combat scalpers. Making sure there was enough stock for everyone. I am a big Nintendo complainer. I like their games but really dislike a lot of their company practices. (Just go look through my comment history on here...) I don't think this has anything to do with lack of sales though.

thorstein23d ago

This was exactly what they planned. Launch day was already set up with the following day being restocked.

good luck getting on here in NA if you didn't preorder. Also lots of retailers secured some extra stock for launch day for those who didn't get preorders. Guarantee those will sell out within a day or two.

I’ve bought a Switch 2 but don’t support £75 games. Didn’t support the price hike of games on PS5 either. Never will. Although Sony seemed to get a free pass from most. They’ll drop just like they always do.

Smellsforfree23d ago

It is hard to say much until we get sales numbers. It could be that Nintendo was just perfectly able to meet their projected demand and produce enough to also stock shelves. Selling out doesn't really mean much. Like, it would be super weird for Apple to sell out of a new iPhone anymore -- it would mean they messed up somewhere on their supply chain, it wouldn't mean the iPhone was super popular that year.

thorstein22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

And if it did sell out, the Nintendo haters would just claim they did that to drive up hype and prices.

Hope Switch 2 will sell well despite the price.

Eonjay23d ago

The price is a real issue because if they have a $330 Japan only versuon... it really makes like they are doing a 50% markup on their cost for every one else (more in some regions).... this is on top of the more expensive games. Its super greed.

Grilla23d ago

The Japanese yen is really weak atm, it’s not a markup.

1nsomniac23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

The price of the console isn’t the problem (in the UK). In fact the price for the console itself is pretty fair. It’s the price of the games which is ridiculous!

MaximusPrime_23d ago

Glad people disagreed. I was being sarcastic this time.

CrimsonWing6923d ago

Man, I can’t say I’m interested at all, but I’ll get one for the next Fire Emblem and Zelda. I can wait though.

jznrpg23d ago

I may get one at some point but I’m in no hurry.

hiawa2323d ago

I walked right into Walmart no preorder yesterday picked up the Mario bundle and pro controller and they had many in the case. Looks like Nintendo had a good first day supply available.

I might get one in a couple years but I’m in no hurry. Nothing at launch I want to play.

But hey saying that creates more hype right !

Survival Kids (NS2) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Survival Kids on Switch 2 is a middling game — not because it doesn't follow the template of the Game Boy original exactly, but because it fails to leverage its rules and mechanics in interesting, engaging, and dangerous ways. There's too much repetitive fetching and crafting, too many stops and starts, and too few situations that truly test you, physically or mentally. Playing through the game, I couldn't help wonder what could have been if Unity had deployed these controls, crafting mechanics, and multiplayer options in a high-stakes open world where survival wasn't guaranteed. As it stands now, it's fine for younger and less experienced players, but not ideal for those seeking something more involved, challenging, and long-lasting."

Pretty much just clickbait opinion. IMO, Switch 2 is everything I loved about Switch, but much more refined and perfected. As someone with a huge library of physical Switch 1 games, I’m stoked with the enhanced performance on my existing games, and very excited for the future once devs start optimizing engines for the platform. Game Chat is excellent, the controllers are excellent. Anyways, I love it so far.

Blah Blah Blah
Switch 2 is basically a more powerful Switch and that's what everyone had been asking for. They know what they're getting into.
Had mine for a couple of days and I'm having a blast with both Switch 2 and 1 games.

Profchaos6h ago

Switch 2 is what I wanted a more powerful switch im happy with it.

Do I wish it was oled sure does it bother me not much

strayanalog5h ago

Wake up and smell the plastic. The sky isn't falling here, your expectations just weren't met. You expected Nintendo to not play it safe with their (best-selling) console, as they have since after the Gamecube.
Thankfully, in gaming, not everything has to be "technically accomplished" or completely different to prove its existence to bring inspiration to the table. Consoles are remembered by their software and the Switch 2 just got here.

GhostScholar5h ago

The idea that the focus on third party is bad is really dumb. They only have really 3 launch titles and one of the issues with the switch was its inability to run a lot of the biggest games. They have addressed both of those issues by highlighting third party support.
