And? Stella blade demo outcry all over again.

It is not a "nothing burger" article, how much control one has over hardware you've purchased including software after the fact should be a concern for consumers.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The User agreements that everyone basically accepts without reading gives manufacturers and devs these rights to alter software and hardware functions at their discretion. Also, we see these types of control over other personal things we own such as cars, homes, etc, at least in the U.S. Just pointing out that this has been going on for a long time and is really nothing new.

Profchaos46d ago

You buy into a ecosystem same as Apple, Xbox, Nintendo etc.

If you try and circumvent their policies this thing will happen if you have not had the ability to block a game update since the PS3.

It's a sad state of things really but we are basically renters here

VariantAEC46d ago

It is a nothing burger. This version wasn't meant to be let out. You never were supposed to have access to a development build in the first place.

Christopher46d ago

This is decades old, but versioning is not 'protected' as long as you have access to what was sold you from the get-go and based on expectations of the product. Everyone does this. You are not having your software removed from you, you are merely having a forced update to have it operate as intended.

Has this human error ever happened before? Seems super weird that an update somehow unlocks the debug mode, but here we are… I guess there’s a first for everything.

InUrFoxHole47d ago

Same human error that isn't allowing 500+ sony gamers to access their digital libraries right now.

RedDevils46d ago

How come I can access it? Weird

InUrFoxHole46d ago

@RedDevils
Give it a Google. Worth educating yourself. All digital is a slippery slope.

At least the game will still boot in offline mode.

Honestly game developers should intentionally add cool cheat menus and debug menus for single player games. Games from the past were loaded with secrets and cheats, these days developers seem to hate silly or fun additions like that.

MatrixxGT47d ago

Nah, they just found a way to monetize them.

Chocoburger46d ago

Yeah for cosmetics, but I'm talking about something different, cheat menus features are not cosmetics.
