Mathijs de Jonge, Game Director, Guerrilla: "Aloy’s journey continues in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores — an expansion which sees the fierce Nora hunter pursue a sinister threat in the untamed wilds of a far-future, volcanic Los Angeles which has been wracked by violent tectonic activity. Pre-orders for Burning Shores, which launches on the PlayStation 5 console on April 19, 2023, are available as of today."
VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Whether in the form of free DLC (hello God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla) or long-awaited semi-sequels, expansions have blossomed into their own thing across every genre. A commercial & creative necessity for MMOs way back when is now a commonality everywhere. And there's great incentive behind it too; generally speaking, who wouldn't want to have the gameplay skeleton of their favorite titles utilized to explore new storylines and locations? In 2023, this comes with a cost for last-gen-only gamers in the form of Horizon Forbidden West and Cyberpunk 2077. Despite both titles having 8th-gen versions at their respective launches, Guerrilla Games and CD Projekt RED decided to forego the technologically-constraining PS4 and/or Xbox One consoles to fully realize their creative visions.
While that doesn't tell the full story of these four finalists, it's an intriguing factoid that marks 2023 as a turning point in cementing future titles or DLCs for only this current generation... and maybe Switch."
Good year for DLC. I’m at the last boss in Burning Shores and just wrapped the tower party subterfuge in Phantom Liberty. Chef’s kiss.
Even though it was a remake, Separate Ways was a great slice of DLC for me.
The RE4VR update also phenomenal.
VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "Another year in the rear-view mirror, another year of both good and bad to look back upon. The video game industry has once again played host to a number of significant events, releases, and other assorted happenings over the last 12 months. So, before we completely forget 2023 and move on to the new year, let's take a look at some of the things that happened, both the nice and the nasty. Here are my winners and losers of 2023 in the world of video games."
Spider-Man 2 & Burning Shores are up for accessiblity awards athe GACONF 2023 Awards along with other nominations for PlayStation
I'm not going to lie. After a few dozen car chases I just set it to automatic. Same with QTE's. Between Amazing 1 & 2 plus Marvels 1, Miles & now 2. I'm over those segments.
Would be nice to have games implement an "epilepsy guard" setting for gamers with epilepsy.
Can't wait to jump back into this 👌
In saying that why does dlc have pre order bonuses honestly, I know the items aren't anything special but still
Damn I still need to play Frozen Wilds and Forbidden West.
So many games, so little time to play.
Pre ordered already. It's $20 so less than what I've expected. I'm dying to see what Guerrilla can do without the PS4 restraints.
Pre-ordered. Looking forward to see what this can do for PS5.
$26.99!? Damn haha I mean I’m getting it but I didn’t expect it to be so much. Frozen wilds was $20
