Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is available to pre-order today, pre-order bonuses detailed

Mathijs de Jonge, Game Director, Guerrilla: "Aloy’s journey continues in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores — an expansion which sees the fierce Nora hunter pursue a sinister threat in the untamed wilds of a far-future, volcanic Los Angeles which has been wracked by violent tectonic activity. Pre-orders for Burning Shores, which launches on the PlayStation 5 console on April 19, 2023, are available as of today."

Can't wait to jump back into this 👌

In saying that why does dlc have pre order bonuses honestly, I know the items aren't anything special but still

IamTylerDurden1394d ago

Why not? Would u rather not have it? It motivates a select few to preorder, it's harmless, who tf cares? Likely early unlocks so it won't lock ppl out of content. It's a major story expansion, not a minor DLC, doesn't seem weird nor harmful to me. I'm confused by your comment tbh.

Flawlessmic394d ago

Then go ahead and pre order it lol

For me personally I don't feel dlc should have any pre order bonuses, I even said it's not a big deal given the items it's more the principal of it.

I'm confused why ur so upset about it.

Abnor_Mal394d ago

Damn I still need to play Frozen Wilds and Forbidden West.

So many games, so little time to play.

Aloymetal394d ago

Frozen wilds is amazing. Get to it! ;)

SullysCigar394d ago

Best part of the game for me, easily. There' was a noticeable jump in quality too!

Abnor_Mal394d ago

Oh I plan to, I just needed a palette cleanser after God of War: Ragnarok, so I’ve been playing smaller games flat and PSVR2.

After I finish Code Vein I will start on the Frozen Wilds, then another cleanser or two then Forbidden West.

cthulhucultist394d ago

I hear you brother. No time to play all games coming out.

We are being spoiled. Everybody I know has a backlog of dozens games at least

Abnor_Mal394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Exactly, we are being spoiled. If I work on my backlog then current games then become new entries into my backlog.

It’s the reason I said at the end of last gen that I will be mostly trying to clean out my backlog while playing a few current gen exclusives. The occasional third party once they get to bargain bin prices, or if they make their way to Plus.

I still have a decent backlog on PS3/4 that needs to be tackled.

IamTylerDurden1394d ago

Frozen Wilds improved many aspects of the base game and HFW improved mechanics and design further. Both are great.

Aloymetal394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Pre ordered already. It's $20 so less than what I've expected. I'm dying to see what Guerrilla can do without the PS4 restraints.

VersusDMC394d ago

That is a insta buy price. Especialy if its the same size as the Horizon 1 and Ghost of Tsushima DLC.

MIDGETonSTILTS17394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Will it be the same size though? It IS half the price, right?

We might mostly get one giant boss fight… which I would be thrilled for.

dumahim394d ago

Thanks for that. Kind of surprised they didn't list the price in the article.

IamTylerDurden1394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

I expected as much as 40 as a worst case scenario, 20 is surprising. Hopefully the scope isn't smaller than expected. HFW is the most technically impressive game on console imo and it's cross gen. If going PS5 exclusive allows for more technical ambition that would be exciting. It would out benchmark their own benchmark. Playing tag with themselves GG is a technical monster. UE5 loois great but Decima is putting out irl. Still a place for proprietary in this industry. Insomniac, ND, Santa Monica, GG. Hopefully some studios stick to their own tools, proprietary engines just have their own feel.

Vengeance1138393d ago

$30 for me, but still very good price to jump back into the Forbidden West and beyond!

MaximusPrime_394d ago

Pre-ordered. Looking forward to see what this can do for PS5.

myfathersbastard394d ago

$26.99!? Damn haha I mean I’m getting it but I didn’t expect it to be so much. Frozen wilds was $20

jznrpg394d ago

Battles passes of many games cost more and you get almost nothing of value . This is a great price

myfathersbastard393d ago

Damn what battle passes are that much?? The only battle passes I get are Fortnite’s and they’re like $12

VersusDMC394d ago

That is the Canadian price. It is 20 us. Back then(when frozen wilds came out) there wasn't a difference but now there is in Canada. Like how games used to be 60 in canada but are now 80.

And Canadian psn charges tax now as well so the total cost will be 30.50.

dumahim394d ago

Are you in Canada or something? It's showing $19.99

Best DLC/Expansion of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "Whether in the form of free DLC (hello God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla) or long-awaited semi-sequels, expansions have blossomed into their own thing across every genre. A commercial & creative necessity for MMOs way back when is now a commonality everywhere. And there's great incentive behind it too; generally speaking, who wouldn't want to have the gameplay skeleton of their favorite titles utilized to explore new storylines and locations? In 2023, this comes with a cost for last-gen-only gamers in the form of Horizon Forbidden West and Cyberpunk 2077. Despite both titles having 8th-gen versions at their respective launches, Guerrilla Games and CD Projekt RED decided to forego the technologically-constraining PS4 and/or Xbox One consoles to fully realize their creative visions.

While that doesn't tell the full story of these four finalists, it's an intriguing factoid that marks 2023 as a turning point in cementing future titles or DLCs for only this current generation... and maybe Switch."

Good year for DLC. I’m at the last boss in Burning Shores and just wrapped the tower party subterfuge in Phantom Liberty. Chef’s kiss.

coolbeans95d ago

Needless to say you're eating good atm.

P_Bomb95d ago

Can’t complain, that’s for sure lol!

S2Killinit95d ago

God of War Ragnarock vs. Horizon Burning Shores

Ironmike94d ago

Both great dlc but for me phantom liberty takes it

Futureshark94d ago

Even though it was a remake, Separate Ways was a great slice of DLC for me.
The RE4VR update also phenomenal.

I'm not going to lie. After a few dozen car chases I just set it to automatic. Same with QTE's. Between Amazing 1 & 2 plus Marvels 1, Miles & now 2. I'm over those segments.

Would be nice to have games implement an "epilepsy guard" setting for gamers with epilepsy.
