Ghostwire: Tokyo Gets An Update And Expanded Xbox Release

Xbox users can now get ready to enjoy more. On April 12, Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks will launch a free update to the critically acclaimed, super-natural action game Ghostwire: Tokyo with an all-new game mode, new areas to explore, extended story cutscenes, quality-of-life improvements, and more for current and future owners on PlayStation as well as an Xbox release and PC updates.

Sweet look forward to trying it. And yet another case of M$ continuing to support and update content on games released outside of their platform...

Garethvk407d ago

To be fair I believe there were agreements in place before they took over Bethesda so this could simply be contracted updates.

Lightning77407d ago

This is outside of contractual obligations. MS is doing what a publisher should do. Support existing games on other consoles.

shinoff2183407d ago

Lightning do you have proof of this not being contractual

Nitrowolf2407d ago

@Lightning

Has that ever happened in the last two gens though, where a publisher drops support on an already released game to only work on one platform

Lightning77407d ago

@Shinoff the proof is the exclusivety contract ends in a few weeks. It's only a year contract Plus this game is on PSN+ so is Minecraft Dungeons. Does that game have extended contractual obligations? Death loop was on plus last year as well. Where's your evidence saying other wise?

@Nitro Minecraft has been supported since MS bought them. The newest one releases next month on PS5 plus last iterations are still getting updates.

Tired of arguing over things that's so blatantly obvious around here.

“MS is doing what a publisher should do. Support existing games on other consoles.“

Then why didn’t MS release a PS5 version of Psychonauts 2 and do what a publisher should do? Exactly.

Lightning77407d ago

"Then why didn’t MS release a PS5 version of Psychonauts 2 and do what a publisher should do? Exactly."

The only thing they did was published the rest of the kick starter which includes PS4 full version by adding back the cut content that DF had to originally rid of because of budgets. Though there is a PS5 patch though.

And Hopefully all the continued supported game's successors release on those same platforms outside their ecosystem...

Lightning77407d ago

Like deathloop 2? That doesn't seem to be the case.

Outside_ofthe_Box407d ago

Oh darn. I guess it isn't about bringing games to all platforms then.

Lightning77407d ago (Edited 407d ago )

Do you expect Sony to bring its games over? Plus doesn't MS need exclusives? something we've been yelling about for the past 11 years?

So what exclusives don't matter after all these years? Or are you just gonna use the classic imaginary goal post of "they need to build them from the ground up in order for it to count" metric.

Outside_ofthe_Box407d ago (Edited 407d ago )

I'm not being serious, if that wasn't obvious.

"Do you expect Sony to bring its games over?"

-No

"Plus doesn't MS need exclusives?"

-Tell that those saying "bring games to all platforms!" whenever MS makes another deal with a no name streaming company.

"Or are you just gonna use the classic imaginary goal post of "they need to build them from the ground up in order for it to count" metric."

-Yeah I know, you don't have to remind me that Microsoft can't compete unless they buy EA, Take2, Etc to measure up to bad guy Sony.

Lightning77407d ago

"Do you expect Sony to bring its games over?"

-No

Well ok then. Why should MS do the same?

That's Call Of Duty Shenanigans

"Plus doesn't MS need exclusives?"

"-Tell that those saying "bring games to all platforms!" whenever MS makes another deal with a no name streaming company."

That's all COD shenanigans that doesn't include there other games.

"-Yeah I know, you don't have to remind me that Microsoft can't compete unless they buy EA, Take2, Etc to measure up to bad guy Sony."

Besides Bethesda an acquisition I agree with I don't agree with ABK so yeah you're right about that.

Outside_ofthe_Box407d ago

I'm not saying that Microsoft should. I'm not being serious when I say that. I'm just poking at those that say that Microsoft should bring their games to all platforms in response to all the deals that MS is making. Obviously they shouldn't bring their games to Playstation if they still see them as competition.

It’s contracted that’s why it’s coming to PlayStation plus. Sony has it in its contract that says if they are marketing the game it can’t go to gamepass without it being offered to PlayStation plus and other clauses.

a7madRyan407d ago

They didnt for psychonauts 2 and the outer worlds cost 10$ for the new ver on all platforms

Pretty sad when you are turning to Sony for subscription money in March before it launches on your system in April.

Pretty decent game, enjoyed it quite a bit. They really should have scaled it down a bit though, a bit too much open world padding for my liking.

But a sequel would be quite interesting if they get the balance right

RavenWolfx122d ago (Edited 122d ago )

This is old, sorry. Says "3H AGO" but it was available yesterday. Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition is now available for free, for another 13 hours or so then it changes.

Decent game for what it is. I quite enjoyed my playthrough.
