U.S. Army Planned to Pay Streamers Millions to Reach Gen-Z Through Call of Duty

Internal Army documents obtained by Motherboard provide insight on how the Army wanted to reach Gen-Z, women, and Black and Hispanic people through Twitch, Paramount+, and the WWE.

It's well known the US Army has been using gaming as a gateway for recruiting for a LOOONG time. Hell even in high school recruiters would ask whoever wasnt interested for their gamertag so they can play Cod together. Not to mention they've sponsored several fps tournaments. Not a conspiracy when it's out in the open. Plus Arma exists so...

Inverno502d ago

Instead of trying to get them to join then military through bs trends why not instead tell em of the benefits that joining the military bring? Least in times of peace and without the threat of war, having your studies paid in full sounds better than "hey you can do what you do in COD by joining the army, isn't that cool?"

kneon502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

The USA has been involved in wars/conflicts for 90+% of its existence so you're unlikely to be in the US Military during peacetime

Old_Scout502d ago

I was a recruiter. You can tell a kid the benefits all day long. Ultimately it's a calling and you just call the right person and do the paperwork.

thorstein501d ago

"I was a recruiter. You can LIE TO a kid about the benefits all day long."

FTFY

I think it is absurd that the US military has millions if not billions of dollars in their advertising budget. It is absurd that they have an advertising budget.

TiredGamer502d ago

Would you prefer forced conscription like in Russia?

gold_drake502d ago (Edited 502d ago )

i had that in austria
wasnt all too bad. 6 months of listening to idiots screaming nonsense. you dont actually participate in any war, but i guess ametica is a different kind of hell when it comes to that. who knows what they'd put ppl through lol

ended up enlisting actually haha. sniper training was like 7 weeks. not a bad life

thorstein501d ago

The alternate to spending millions of dollars on advertising is forced conscription?

Wow, you learn something every day.

Gee, how would anyone in the whole world learn about the US military if it weren't for advertising.

My fav and last COD I played and never anymore after that is COD 4 map: Killhouse.

Rebel_Scum1076d ago

None from COD3? At least one of Eder Dam, Merville, Poisson & Rouen should be in there.

Gardenia1075d ago

The best maps were made in COD4, BO1 and BO2. The golden era of COD I would say.

Abear211075d ago (Edited 1075d ago )

Wow can’t argue with that top 5. Raid is my personal fav. Everything BLOPS2 and before were pretty solid. Now the maps have been remade so many times I don’t remember what’s what. Rust, really? This is why I don’t play COD anymore, Nuketown I can take, but Rust is pure COD respawn get shot in the back garbage

Activision Expects Lower Sales From Call of Duty 2021 Compared to Last Year

Activision has confirmed that it's not expecting Call of Duty 2021 to beat Black Ops Cold War's sales numbers.

Amplitude1166d ago (Edited 1166d ago )

Cold War was honestly a mistake lol it took a massive amount of people away from MW and it seems the vast majority of us didn't like any of the changes in CW, and the cherry on top is that it ruined the balancing in Warzone.

Used to play MW all the time but then I bought Cold War day one and beat the campaign in one sitting. Played quite a bit online and idk I couldn't get into it. Feels like I should prolly be progressing in CW instead of MW and the result of that mentality is that I just dropped both lol and don't even buy the season passes anymore. I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat. The idea of ANOTHER one coming out is really pushing it. Shoulda just had MW be updated with dlc for a few years

Treyarch has been trash since Black Ops 4.

Amplitude1166d ago (Edited 1166d ago )

I might be wrong but I'm pretty confident the only thing theyve made since Black Ops 4 is Cold War. ...so I mean I guess you're not wrong lol

414gamer1166d ago

Cold War also got pushed out a year early because Sledgehammers game got canned

Unknown_Gamer57941166d ago

Am I supposed to feel bad for Activision? "Lower than expected" sales for a CoD game is still a pipe dream for a lot of other games.
