Game was extremely broken and they still released it as a first impression, what a shit company

Teflon02922d ago

It's mainly for server prep, not a first impression thing lol. That's just what comes with it. Maybe a mess but was alot of fun

Pocahontas921d ago

TBF the games a month out and was everyones first impression. Pro post mover.

eddieistheillest921d ago

A beta is not meant to be a first impression lol. A demo or trial yes, but not a beta.

Extermin8or3_921d ago

I mean tbf an open beta like a month from launch is to all intents and purposes more like a timed demo than an actual beta.

CorndogBurglar921d ago

While that's true, the Beta is still everyone's first impression of the game. It may be buggy and may not accurately represent what the final product will be. But its still people's first time getting their hands on the game. Which makes it a first impression.

Not to mention, when a game's beta takes place a month before launch, very little, if anything,, ever gets changed before the actual launch. There just isn't enough time for the devs to fix much at that point

Pocahontas921d ago

Terrible open beta a month out. First impression it definitely is otherwise it would have been closed.

JEECE921d ago

Lol that moment when you out yourself as one of the kids whose entire gaming experience has happened in the era where "beta" typically means "demo" and so you don't know how to react when you play a beta that's actually a beta.

CorndogBurglar921d ago

This game is releasing in a month. I fully understand that Betas nowadays are for server testing. But when the Beta takes place a month before launch, the bugs and everything found in it are almost never fixed before launch. There's just not enough time to fix it all. Generally speaking, anytime a Beta happens that close to launch, it's a very good indicator of what the game will be like at launch. They might be able to fix some things, but not much.

This is how Betas have been for over a decade now, including Battlefield Betas.

SixFrvgz921d ago

Lol that moment when you out yourself as one of those naïve kids giving companies like EA/DICE a pass considering their horrendous track record - the Stockholm Syndrome with you lot is real.

A beta is a first impression... period. No matter how you slice it - it is gamers first time at getting a hands on experience as to what they could generally expect. A beta that's open to the public on a Friday and ends on a Saturday... what? They wanted this beta to start and end as soon as possible. They felt obligated to give us one because they had to back up their talk - something they generally don't do.

Apart from the myriad of bugs/glitches - this just doesn't feel like a great Battlefield game. It's missing those special ingredients that make Battlefield games feel like Battlefield. I won't delve into that here - there are plenty of videos out there that do so. Expect this and anything EA/DICE releases Battlefield related to be completely divisive from now on - the decision making is highly questionable.

At least they have a portion of the community like you excusing them though, right?

JEECE921d ago

@SixFrvgz

"I won't delve into that here - there are plenty of videos out there that do so."

That moment when you out yourself as one of the kids who doesn't have his own opinions, but instead finds out what his opinions should be from YouTube.

Pocahontas921d ago (Edited 921d ago )

Less than a month out and the company says lets do an open beta where everyone can critic it and then somehow they'll completely forget 3 weeks later. If you're a fan you wouldn't settle for this.

I had a great time playing. It’s far far from perfect, with many missing features. But it was a beta, with lots of features to play/test. There were many silly little bugs, but again… it was a beta test. A test on a build months old apparently. If the game comes out exactly as it was in this test I’d have no problem whatsoever calling it broken and unfinished, and to be fair, I’d very very (pleasantly) surprised if on launch it work exactly as intended, which is sad and frustrating, but unfortunately seems to be the nature of a battlefield launch. I’d expected it to be playable still, and for it to get better and better very quickly. I’m still buying at launch. I personally also wouldn’t be crazy surprised if we had another small delay, but I’d imagine the pressures on to get it out this side of Christmas and time is running out.

Bottom line… the core game worked in this beta, and many of those playing it had lots of fun, myself included

EvertonFC921d ago (Edited 921d ago )

It's a beta you know, to report bugs/glitches and stuff. You do understand that right? 🤣 😂

Yeah needs more energy swords or Avengers skins or something

giveyerheadawobble921d ago

You jest, but you know we'll get those in some form or another.

UltraNova921d ago (Edited 921d ago )

Apart from the obvious bugs, which is to be expected from a beta I found the audio to be really unfinished. Footsteps were almost non existent and everything sounded flat af. Really uncharacteristic of a BF game.

That said, the crazy sand box game we know and love is there in full tilt. Finally, let's see how they handle specialists in the full game.

poppatron921d ago

I’ve seen a lot of people comment on the sound. I defo agree. I think in some games like apex you can hear people from really far away, maybe a little to far, but this as it stands is just too hard to pick out anything really

philm87921d ago

Bugs aside, which will be mostly cleared up, I thought it was great. Loved how the environment felt more alive with a lot more foliage and trees moving in the wind (PS5 compared with previous PS4 iterations).

An Update on Battlefield 2042 and Welcoming Motive Studio to the Team

EA:

While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future. What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042. After Season 7 concludes, we will continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from delivering official seasons.

Streamer Claims DICE Paid Over 60 Content Creators for Battlefield 2042 Feedback, Then Ignored It

Streamer Shroud says that DICE paid 60 to a hundred content creators to help develop Battlefield 2042, but ignored every single advice.

GoodGuy0923d ago

No wonder the game ended up the way it did
What they should've done was ask BF fans. Most general content creators typically go for the trend and the top creators stream games like LOL, fortnite, dota, gtaV, battle royale etc.

_SilverHawk_23d ago

A lot of times people want a game to be something else and I'd probably guess a lot of people wanted call of duty or a lot of it's features.

Bf2042 is amazing now but was not so much at launch. A lot of improvements made the game an amazing game with its own identity. I'm hoping the new battlefield game coming next year improves upon everything in bf2042 and is more akin to bf3 and bf4.

Gamingsince198123d ago

I want them to do a new bad company instead

DustMan22d ago

A ton of people have written the game off now. Which is unfortunate because I find it to be one of the best multiplayer shooters available now. I've been aware that a Battlefield game has not launched in a good condition since....I don't remember. So I never played at launch due to the horror stories, but it seems to have pulled a Battlefield 4 and really turned itself around. Good stuff. Love getting 4 kills on an apc with a well placed RPG, or Stinger to a loaded chopper lol. No other game has given me that kind of joy. lol.

Kornholic23d ago

To be fair, I would not listen to content creators/influencers either.

BISHOP-BRASIL22d ago

Look, I wouldn't pee on an influencer if they were on fire, but why pay for their feedback only to ignore it?

Kornholic22d ago

I don't know. Maybe they thought it was a good idea at first but eventually found out that it was best to ignore influencers' opinions?

jznrpg23d ago

I’ll give some advice and take money for it. You can use it or not use it just make sure to pay me

badboyz0923d ago

who would've thought🤷‍♀️

Yi-Long22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Battlefield fans just want Battlefield to be Battlefield. Which means a focus on Conquest-mode (5/6 flags), some gorgeous and fun maps to play on, 4 balanced classes, and that's it.

The suits keep wanting to turn Battlefield into everything else BUT Battlefield, so first they wanted BF to be more like Call of Duty, so they copied a bunch of stuff from CoD. Then they wanted to take advantage of the Battle Royale stuff, so they went after that crowd. Then they saw the heroes stuff in Overwatch and so they brought in specialists. Etc.

Guys, we just want Battlefield. Not every games has to be everything to all people. Specialize in what makes (made) your series great, which is large(r) maps (appropriate size for the amount of players, which IMO should be 24-32 max, so not just big for bragging brights), integrating vehicle-combat, and just allowing the freedom and flow which made those matches in older Battlefield games so special at times.
