Why ‘Furi’ Is the First Essential PlayStation Plus ‘Free’ Game Since ‘Rocket League’

PS Plus gets criticised for a lack of triple-A games, but those complaining are missing the point. It's best seen as a home for indie gems like this one.

mike32UK2985d ago

Limbo, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Gone home say hi 🙌

mike32UK2985d ago

Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the atmosphere. Definitely not for everyone if you don't like games such as Everybody's Gone to the Rapture or Firewatch, but I think games like this provide a great change of pace from my recent outings of: Uncharted, TLOU, Mirrors Edge etc.

Why o why2985d ago

I enjoyed it too. It had a weird compelling atmosphere like Mike said. Proper interesting title if you giveth the chance

Eidolon2985d ago (Edited 2985d ago )

I guess I just get bored of these games, don't enjoy the walking around 90% of the game looking at stuff. I would rather have a VN type game or Telltale style game for story.

mike32UK2985d ago

Yeah that's what I mean by saying its not for everyone bud, you need a lot of patience and a desire to get invested in the story. Typically these games only last 2 or 3 hours at most. Any more more than that and I would also probably start to get bored

Majister-Ludi2985d ago

Yea I would probably take gone home off that list. Games should probably have gameplay just my opinion though.

ziggurcat2985d ago

downloaded, but haven't played it yet, though.

Why o why2985d ago

It's a tough game at first but you kinda get the hang of it. You're reflexes have to align with the game for it to be beaten

ziggurcat2985d ago

i've heard it's pretty tough. i'm a souls veteran, but hopefully it isn't rip-your-hair-out frustrating :)

Becuzisaid2985d ago

People are complaining that we don't ever seem to get AAA games. The last one was recent, NBA 2k, but it's a sports game isn't everyone's thing. Before that though, what was the last real AAA game for PS+? the general consensus is that ever since the PS4 has become popular, and PS+ has become mandatory to play online, the game being offered have been well below par, compared to what used to be offered. Sony hasn't needed to try as hard since the service is no longer optional to people, unless you aren't playing online. I got one am a bit sick of Indie games, "gems" or not.

Omegasyde2985d ago

should be one indie one AAA game...

MatrixxGT2985d ago

I guess before NBA you could say Driveclub?

But I agree, compared to PS3s ps plus games the last few years have been lackluster. I'm not implying games like resogun, gone home, rocket league, etc are bad, some I haven't even played yet. Just when you hear about an indie game that might be good, no need to buy it as it will be on ps+ soon enough.

Hell even the vita ps+ used to be better.

But I guess Sony is the leader at the moment so they can slack off trying.

Eidolon2985d ago

What, are we talking about games freshly release on PS4 via PS+? Becuase there are a few great games that were free for PS+ after Rocket League.

blackblades2985d ago

Reminds of afro samurai where he don't talk but someone else talks instead. I only beat the 1st 2 but wish there was more enemies free roaming.

Can't wait to hear how the corporate bootlickers defend this.

seanpitt2317h ago

This is the world we live in and people seem to think it's acceptable

Cacabunga15h ago

550 probably consultants.
GTA6 is in tweak phase, no need for massive number of people for that.

PRIMORDUS15h ago

Best way to get rid of people like this is to make them disappear, permanently.

Profchaos21h ago

They also just held a leadership vote I don't think there was any changes

Software_Lover20h ago

I really don't even think CEO's should get bonuses. If I were a CEO and I made millions, I would like to think I wouldn't. Or if I had to legally, I would maybe find a way to disperse among the lower tier employees. Take my bonus and turn it into stocks to disperse out to those employees evenly.

DarXyde7h ago

That would be the way to do it. Imagine thinking a CEOs "leadership" is worth that much money while the talent makes the product.

Insanity.

FinalFantasyFanatic4h ago

I remember when I started working, my department manager used to gift us stuff each year, one year I got a bottle of Scotch, another it was a small basket of treats... But that was also a lot less money than what we're talking about here.

It would be ideal if the CEO could gift a bonus to everyone under them.

MrDead19h ago

CEO's work for shareholders and are shareholders they also rely on share price to receive their multimillion dollar paydays and they will happily fire thousands to protect shares. CEO's are there to extract the most value out of a company and give it to the wealthy few.

redknight8019h ago

That is so god damn fucked up!! Unfortunately...I know damn well I will be still buying their games but shit like this should seriously have some sort of repercussion of some sort. 550 people get their lives totally up-ended and the leadership get a bonus on top of an already high salary. 25M could set those 550 people up with an annual salary each of $45,000. Depending on where you live, that is a very livable salary even...

Wonder what happened to the leaked medieval game that they were working on ... hope that's still on going and gets released sometime after GTA VI

gold_drake3d ago

eh wat?

its been on "break" for 11 years now ha 5 came out literally 11 years ago

isarai3d ago

Seeing as how it's been like 12yrs between releases, i don't think taking even more time is a good decision for the series

TheNamelessOne3d ago

So GTA 7 in around 2045 or 2050 lol

Mr_cheese2d ago

So make one GTA every human generation instead of every other console generation?

Come on...

Well I really hope they make some $$ AND make a HFR2 in the process.

Sciurus_vulgaris2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I’m wonder if Microsoft fully sold the Hi-Fi Rush IP. They kept the publishing rights of the original game. I don’t even understand why the IP was sold. MS could have had another of its menagerie of studios do another Hi-Fi game, despite such a thing being unlikely.

mandf1d 22h ago

It was given for free on gamepass. It didn’t sell well. Look at starfield it only sold 2.5 million because of gamepass

Sciurus_vulgaris1d 18h ago

Starfield did $235 million in revenue on Steam alone from Sept-December 2023. So I’m sure it sold considerably more than 2.5 million copies.

ZwVw1d 17h ago

Yes, it did sell well. GP version has a fraction of the reviews that the Deluxe Edition (more expensive purchase version of original) has. If anything, it shows that more people actually bought the Deluxe version than played the GP version, on Xbox at least.

LucasRuinedChildhood2d ago

Hi-Fi Rush on the Switch 2 at launch would probably sell a good amount.
