Do You Really Want to Replay The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim All Over Again This October?

OnlySP: When I first heard the rumors that Bethesda was remastering Skyrim for the current generation of consoles I was pretty excited. Then I heard they were adding mod support to the game and I got even more excited. Finally, the game was shown off at Bethesda’s E3 conference and it was at that point I pretty much asked myself: am I really going to play through the entire game again?

Avery2999d ago (Edited 2997d ago )

Yes!
EDIT: That's yes will play again, it's been a while since went through and would love to again. So yes to a remastered to tie over to the next iteration.

BrianOBlivion2999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

Yes, me too please. Never played it the first time round... looking forward to it.

TheSaint2999d ago

I wish I'd never played it so I could play it all again!

mogwaii2998d ago

So you arent looking forward to replaying it at all.

nitus102999d ago

For people who have played Skyrim before probably no, for those that have not and are into RPG's then yes.

joab7772999d ago

I put so many hrs into it. No way I will do it again.

NukaCola2999d ago

If my save would carry over then yes, for the DLC and just to see the world. I don't have time to reinvest another 200 hours.

barb_wire2999d ago

If you played the PC version, then Yes, your save will carry over BUT if you played either the PS3/X360 version, then No.. you have to start a new game.

DragonKnight2999d ago

For me it's a yes too, though I'm not pleased at the price. It quite simply is not worth it. Here's why.

Currently the Skyrim Legendary Edition for consoles sits at around $20 to $30 depending on where you're buying it.

What the remaster offers is not worth an additional $30 to $40. Why? Well for 3 main reasons.

1. The graphical upgrades are A) Something that happened not as an intention to bring the game out as a remaster, but to test out Fallout 4's engine and B) Likely of the same quality as Bethesda's own High Res Texture pack they released for the PC version.

2. Mod support will not even be proper mod support because Script Extension won't even function on the consoles, so the most we can expect is basic mods like reskins. The consoles won't handle graphical mods, and thanks to Sony's proprietary nonsense with their sound format the PS4 can't really expect funny mods like the changes to the Shouts. So in the end the mod support is likely to be extremely lackluster.

3. This remaster was even an intention for Bethesda. It exists because of Fallout 4 so the work was already done and not for the sake of making a remaster. Bethesda thinks phoning in a remaster with ported upgrades and pitiful mod support is worth full price and it's not.

Stop acting as if you really know what you're talking about cause you definitely don't. You think you know what you're talking about but you don't. Unless you were there for the development of this remaster then you're just running your mouth off. I don't care what you try to come back with or how you word it or how clever you think you are or the disagrees I get its not gonna change what I said.

DragonKnight2998d ago

@aawells07: "Stop acting as if you really know what you're talking about cause you definitely don't."

Yes I do.

"You think you know what you're talking about but you don't."

Redundant statement is redundant.

"Unless you were there for the development of this remaster then you're just running your mouth off."

Everything I said can be found online. Look up Fallout 4 PS4 mods problems and Skyrim engine ported to Xbox One to test out Fallout 4.

"I don't care what you try to come back with or how you word it or how clever you think you are or the disagrees I get its not gonna change what I said."

This is what your comment entails.

Ask XB1 owner if there ready to sink in all those hours playing RDR again. The answer is yes. If there's a demand for it people will fork over there cash.

S/N how many people will buy HL2 remastered? A hell of a lot, now if we could get Valve off there cheeks we'd be alright...

rainslacker2999d ago

What's this again he's talking about?

I only had some cursory experience with the game, and have never gotten into it despite wanting to, and given how well received it is among the community, why not do it now?

You know me...give me a good limited edition and I'll be all over it.

Doesn't have to be big. A steelbook, posters, the soundtrack etc

conanlifts2999d ago

We all have our weaknesses. Mine seems to be t-shirts and apparel. Give me a wearable with a game and i hop on board. Luckily i found a place that frequently gives free tshirts etc with preorders.

Jaqen_Hghar2999d ago

a man is addicted to steel books. Every game should have one

Mr-Dude2999d ago

Not at that disgusting price.

nX2999d ago

And not 5 years after it released. I loved Skyrim but don't quite understand how people are feeling the urge to play this for hundreds of hours AGAIN. From a sales perspective this might be the perfect time to release a remaster, but I would've preferred to see a reimagined Morrowind instead.

chobit_A5HL3Y2999d ago

i never got to play the dlc and don't think i discovered everything in the vanilla game when i played it on ps3. personally, there's a lot for me to look forward to. i haven't played it in years and it'll be like a brand new game.

Trekster_Gamer2999d ago

Because they enjoyed it!

Is that really that hard to comprehend?

Silly articles...

Spyroo2999d ago

This. I ONLY play full price for PROPER Remasters like Odin Sphere or Gravity Rush Remastered or Ratchet and Clank etc remasters that took alot of time and effort and changed lots of things

_-EDMIX-_2999d ago

Ratchet & Clank is not a remaster it's a completely remade game....

Games you mentioned also do not have mod support along with all the DLC...

Soooooo yea, also not Skyrim.

nitus102999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

Played the demo for Odin Sphere and although for me it was an interesting game I doubt I will get the full game.

Have not played R&C for the PS4 yet although I do have the PS2 original. I will be getting the R&C reboot though but not just yet since I have plenty of other games I am playing at the moment.

I got a special discount on Gravity Rush Remastered (over half price) and for me, this is one highly addictive game. I have only got 12 out of 16 of the "Traveler's Story" yet and some of those challenges really do require a lot of skill especially if you wish to beat some of the world's top players (closest I got was just under 20,000). Actually, this game reminds me of the PS2 game Kya, although story-wise it is different.

rainslacker2999d ago

All three of those games you mentioned came out for less than a "full price" game.

Errorist762999d ago

R&C is not a remaster, it's a remake!

Goldby2999d ago

@_-EDMIX-_

Lets be honest, for Skyrim, there never will be actual mod support for it.

Script extender wont work on it and no mods where others are required will pass through bethesda.net
On top of that there a 2gb max on xbox and 900mb currently on ps4.

i'm using some mods on my pc version that are over 5gb of textures, audio recording, new quests and textures.
you wont be bale to get Machoman randy savage as the dragons, no thomas the tank engine for fus ro dah,
the mod support for console is going to be very limited in comparison to pc

Perjoss2999d ago

A lot of people forget how garbage the combat in that game is. Wonderfully crafted world though, if only Bethesda would hire someone who can design good combat systems for their games.

UncertainCategory2999d ago

It's free on PC if you have the original content, so sure why not. It's a great game.

Vegamyster2999d ago

I have it on PC but i burnt myself out on it so i probably won't do another run for awhile, lots of games coming out in the next 6 months.

MatrixxGT2999d ago

I can see why some people may not want to invest 100 more hours into a game they already played when there's newer games that interest them now.

i personally did not finish my play through. I'll probably pick it up if I'm not to busy with FH3.

UnwanteDreamz2999d ago

Yeah I played until my eyes bled. Still a great game.

That’s just laughable to me. I think they’ve squeezed all they can out of an 12 year old game

mastershredder114d ago

"Easily" because they see mods, says the gamer. To heck with licensing, terms agreements conditions, etc. all you need to do is belive in mods. Yeah, so real superficial BS yo.

CrimsonWing69114d ago

Do people not want to play a new game? Like, I’d rather see 6 than just a prettier version of a game we’ve been playing since the 360/PS3 gen…

Popsicle114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

Yes please. Did pretty much everything there was to do in this game. Took a very long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Skyrim is one of my all-time favorites, but I would prefer a new experience.

anast114d ago

They might as well. So far, it looks like ES6 will be mostly developed by AI.

Smellsforfree114d ago

I don't want a next-gen version of a game I've already played to death. Skyrim was a great game, but I'm over it.
