I'll let you know when I actually see games.

BadboyCivic3982d ago (Edited 3982d ago )

Xbox is evolving

Into a ?

A: Cable box
B: PS4 destroyer
C: All purpose multimedia
D: none of the above

dedicatedtogamers3982d ago

It's neither evolutionary nor revolutionary.

It is sidestepping the gaming market entirely in order to go after smartTVs and Apple, and it's using a beloved gaming brand to rope in the early adopters.

GalacticEmpire3982d ago

That's a loaded question, it could be niether or both.

adorie3982d ago

Same thought swirled in my mind.

Its going to revolutionize gaming once folks see the games on the cloud server. MS revolutionized on line gaming for consoles now they are primed to do it again with the cloud.

greenpowerz3982d ago (Edited 3982d ago )

Not just games but evolution of services that uses the Xbox One's costom desinged architecture for multi tasking fused with Kinect. We still know nothing about the Xbox One's CPU and GPU and Memory other than the amount. I read the Xbox One uses 3 types of memory. The CPU is substantially modified/costom, point being we can only guess the capabilty and what it will offer.

All the comparisons about specs are all speculation. MSFT has not announced details on specs. The details about MSFT's specs come from speculation from pre reveal rumors.

MSFT did a Xbox One reveal for the masses so they didn't talk about things that would bore average consumers, they just showed the console and their vision. Blogs and forums are speculating the specs because MSFT didn't go into detail making people assume the pre Xbox One specs must of been true hense the comparisons.

Xbox one is revolutionary because it turns your home into a smart house. It's basically an AI in your Home with human-like CPU communication with people.

You should google this feature I'm about to tell you.

Xbox One will have a SIRI like AI coming to Xbox One like on Iphone. Xbox One will talk to owners.

Software_Lover3982d ago

............ I just want to play the new Halo. :)

Clarence3982d ago

Did u not watch the conference because it was a bore. The only people clapping were M$ employees.

It's funny that you mention Xbox will be like Siri. It just shows that M$ copies everything. M$ did announce the specs
http://www.ign.com/wikis/xb...
It's posted all over the internet.

Not revolutionary. Comcast came out with the same type of box 1 year before M$.

Stop it.

Software_Lover3982d ago (Edited 3982d ago )

^ Clarence........... You obviously didn't even read what you posted. Your fanboy b4ll$ were probably blueing up (I should get that copyrighted) to respond.

As stated in the article YOU POSTED..

"Not much is known about the Xbox One GPU, but a Microsoft representative has told IGN "AMD is our primary partner for the custom silicon that makes up our GPU/CPU SOC that is the heart of Xbox One."

We dont know anything about the GPU, just as green said. I dont agree with everything he says, but he's right on that one.

clonerz3982d ago

All the power in the world means jack if you give up outright ownership of said games you purchase after all a console without games is just a paperweight

rainslacker3982d ago

GREEN!!! You're back. I was getting worried that MS broke you. I was going to have a kick-starter to buy you a Vita to get you out of your comatose state, but guess I don't have to do that now.

Welcome back buddy. Somehow, Belkin is just a pale shadow of your glory.

dcbronco3981d ago (Edited 3981d ago )

@Clarence

It doesn't strike you as odd that Comcast announced a set-top box with similar features, size and case design as the Xbox one on the same day MS released. I've never seen Comcast use anything but Motorola boxes. Suddenly this unmarked box comes out. It looks like A One before the disc slot is cut into it. At some point someone is going to open it and reveal an Xbox One motherboard.

When MS talks about a billion units, things like this are why.

As of the end of last March, 66 million 360s had been sold. Around 2/3 of those weren't being used online. You can either admit that number is because of RRoD, which would go against the usual N4G MS fan stance, or you can admit that not all that many people use their consoles online. I think One's dependence on an online connection will cost MS many sales worldwide.

In the same article, it was reported that more people used their 360s for online multi-media entertainment than for online gaming. That explains the design and reveal of the One.

This is what you guys don't seem to understand. One is not primarily about gaming, and it's success will have much less to do with gamers than 360's success did.

As for the fantasy of cloud power, if it works at all it will be for a relatively small percentage of people who have a sufficient internet connection, and if it's successful Sony can do the same thing. There's nothing unusual about One that allows cloud computing, and Sony had clusters of PS3s for dedicated servers at a time when they lost money on every sale. You really think they'll hesitate to match MS in this if it works? I don't, but I doubt they'll need to bother.

@green - "All the comparisons about specs are all speculation. MSFT has not announced details on specs."

Neither has announced full specs, but every comparison of what's currently known gives PS4 the clear edge, and apparently developers aren't aware of the magic cloud. You'd think MS would have told Epic about it...

http://www.tekrevue.com/201...

"As more technical details for the PS4 became available, the reason for the difference in quality was revealed; it was discovered that the console’s AMD CPU and GPU could only push a total of about 2 teraFLOPs, well short of the 2.5 teraFLOPs demanded by the Unreal 4 demo. With the Xbox One’s announcement earlier this week, the situation became even more grim. Microsoft’s latest console will be able to drive even less performance than the PS4, dashing Epic’s hopes for this generation of consoles."

Neither console was able to deliver the "full Unreal Engine 4 experience", but PS4 outperformed One.

OT - I don't think either is revolutionary. Both are evolutionary, but in different directions.

Business companies already use cloud compute. It isn't a fantasy. And since they have said it will be used for non-latency sensitive code, I don't understand why anyone would think it's impossible to do. Also, I'm betting there are design features in the One that will make this easy. I'm not sure Sony will be able to just switch over to a similar system as efficiently as the Xbox One is supposed to do it. While most think those Move Engines in the One are about increasing bandwidth, I believe they are about send specific code where it needs to go more quickly. Either inside of outside the console.

And pointing out how many use the Xbox for media just makes the One's design look even smarter. BTW, the PS3 was used more for non-gaming as far back as 2010.

Microsoft is just more honest about it.

forum673982d ago

None of the consoles are revolutionary. All technologies already exist on PC.

andibandit3982d ago

Except some of the stuff on the Xbone only exists on rockets.

BitbyDeath3982d ago

Cool, so name me an existing APU that contains a GPU with 8GB GDDR5 RAM on it?

What's that? PC doesn't have that tech yet?
Back to the troll hole with you then.

forum673982d ago (Edited 3982d ago )

Did you miss the school bus ?

Heavy modification is not considered revolutionary/evolutionary.

Whats next ? Someone modified a Ferrari to run on dirt track is considered revolutionary.

Finish your HW jonny boy.

Floppy -> CD -> Blu Ray = Good evolution
AMD APU -> AMD modified APU = NOT evolution

BitbyDeath3982d ago

So you want features?
How about how the PS4 is said to have no load times. PC isn't that advanced yet.

ApolloTheBoss3982d ago (Edited 3982d ago )

Devolutionary, as in a step backward.
