As much as I'd love for this to be true, it simply isn't (or it is but only to a point).
What you're seeing is simply that they track your vote through use of a cookie saved on your local machine. When you clear your cache that cookie is removed and as such they assume you haven't voted yet. That does not in any way mean that your vote isn't recorded on their servers.
More than likely the vote IS recorded, you have found a somewhat clever way of working around thei...
The problem with higher clock speeds is only partially temp and really that has been resolved with newer processes. The main issue is the pipeline depth. In roder to push the speed up, the pipeline depth increases dramatically which has a corresponding decrease in the number of operations performed per clock cycle
have you worked in IT before? I have...tape backup are used for enterprise storage but mostly backup all server contents and activity for a week or so before the tapes are erased and new ones are put in. Most companies today, across the world, still use DVD as the preferred archiving method. For this reason Blu-Ray or HD DVD would be great for enterprise storage.
It doesn't hurt to do it on both...but I hope you realize that the number you're quoting is the number of TFlops generated by the PS3's and that the number of active PS3 users is over 32,000
I don't understand how ANYONE could call this a good thing. Reading the article the person is exactly right, its an extremely inelegant and invasive solution. What someone wants to do with their single player experience is their own business, not Microsoft's or any other companies for that matter. They spent the money on the console and the game and that should be plenty. For people railing against the gamerscore and achievements complaints, think about this, if they can truly detect whether ...
I find it funny that you blame Sony for making 'PS3 = Blu-Ray' when they've done everything in their power to emphasize the gaming aspects of the console. You don't see a marketing push on their end saying "hey, buy a PS3 because it plays movies." Its always, "Hey, buy a PS3 because it plays games and can ALSO play hi-def movies." If anyone is to blame for the image that the PS3 = Blu-Ray, its the 360 fanboys which have been harping on it since the PS3 was announced, sayin...
Bladestar, the fanboy street goes two ways. There's the PS3 side and the 360 side (not going to mention Nintendo because they aren't the rabid ones on this site). You used to sit in the center, but you've moved so far down the 360 side that no one in the center can even see you anymore. When it comes down to it, you accuse every one that likes the PS3 of being a fanboy or anyone that calls out the yourself or the 360 as being a fanboy. That is simply not the case and is frankly a very one-sid...
No game will ever be $200 better, its a tired argument and frankly not worth making at this point. What it comes down to is which console you prefer it on. I personally feel the PS3 is much better suited to complex fighting games and so I have it for my PS3. On the other hand I have DOA4 for my 360 and enjoy that very much as well. Its all a matter of preference. When it comes to online play, it may be important for some but may mean nothing for others. Personally, I'd rather play a fighting ...
Bladestar, he didn't say that he upset people he can't live without, what he said is that he upset people in the business, that they are people he cares about, and that he can't live with that (ie. he can't live with hurting people he cares about). If you reread his statement, that much is obvious. I'm not going to say he is or isn't referring to Sony, but you have taken this comment of his out of context this entire time. I'll quote it for everyone one more time, "My stylings have upset...
DrRage you are very wrong. The layout of a motherboard can have a significant impact upon the performance of a system and therefore also on the graphics that systems produces. Obviously what is coming out of 360 is good and therefore the motherboard is designed well enough to allow for that. However it is possible that they could improve performance with a new layout, just as it is possible that they could destroy what they already have with a new layout
While I agree its what the box can do thats important, I thought I would point out to everyone ripping at PS3 Fan that the layout and design of a motherboard is quite important. You can't simply connect wires to components all over the board and assume that its going to deliver the expected performance. Current technology has made it quite necessary to place components on the board in proper locations to maximize performance of the system as a whole. One of the greatest examples of this is th...
Great to see some more of the art behind the game design and see where they gained some of their inspiration as well. Nice interview as well, though I've heard much of it in other videos at this point, it was good to hear his comment at the end about buying all 3 consoles and enjoying what each has to offer.
you speak of evidence that is absolutely nonexistent. Neither the 360 nor the PS3 has come even close to their peaks. It doesn't matter one bit where either is at right now because they will both be in much better places a year or more from now. Which will be better then, only time will tell.
I have to ask, wouldn't you rather have a team dedicated to getting the most out of a platform working on it. You say that PC developers can handle a 360 version of whatever this is referring to (can't confirm Crysis yet). The fact of the matter is PC developers could handle doing either a 360 OR PS3 version, but the question is how well would they do. Don't be naive enough to think that developing on the 360 is equally as easy as developing on the PC. They are still different platforms with ...
Hehe, I was going to say this one is from a different website :-P I'll update the title to reflect that...
I think the entire interview, both part 1 and part 2 were great to hear. PS3blog.net had some good questions for Insomniac.
What you said about Phil, I wish more people over at Sony would actually talk about the technical side of things every now and then as opposed to just saying "oh, thats not really a problem"
The Zune is far from being a piece of crap Achira. I've owned one since shortly before Christmas time and have enjoyed it. I have owned Creative players in the past and frankly, the Zune is significantly easier to use. Additionally the larger screen is nice to have and the sound quality is above average for MP3 players and better than that of an iPod in my opinion. The only down sides are the size and relatively low resolution of the screen. If they made one with the same size screen, that wa...
I understand what you are trying to say, but a winner (at least between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray could very well be decided before then if one falls drastically out of favor in the market. This COULD happen, and in fact likely will happen before either side has players out under $200 unless current trends reverse themselves or stabilize. This isn't a matter of blindly following one side over the other or any such thing. Retailers will make the decision themselves if, for an extended period of time,...
Are you really that confident of that? Have you considered that since Blu-Ray first gained its sales edge the margin in sales has steadily increased and HD-DVD hasn't retaken a single week, much less a month...
That isn't to say that what is in the article is correct by any stretch of the imagination. It isn't, plain and simple. This is the same garbage that was posted all over this site ages ago to try to prove the PS3 was inferior to the 360. None of this stuff has since been corroborated by anything reputable. In fact, the GTAIV delay mentioned so early in the article was never more than rumor. All the arguments in the article are old and tired and frankly carry no weight. It may be true that the...
