i love that version of the PS3.
it would be suicide for sony and anybody else to go full digital, internet speeds are not fast enough yet, the average internet speed in the US is 5 Megabits.... now imagine the average speed in other countries...

i've traveled to latin america a lot
games cost way more over there, for example in mexico brand new games cost around $120 USD.
people rather "chip" their consoles and buy pirated games, than buying new or even used original games.
believe it or not, there is people actually making a living by selling pirated games in those poor countries.

piracy exist on consoles also, in other countries piracy on consoles is leading because games are too expensive.
