its the 'playstation link' thing that annoys me. Only playstation wireless headphones will work, they're dressing it up like new tech but its just bluetooth that only acceps playstation headphones, to make you spend more cash. Steam deck; any bluetooth accessory, PS Portal; nah. It was the same with vita (and the reason it didn't do better) special custom memory cards required, not just micro sd. i remember when the last of us part 1 was been re-made, people complained that the voice work and mo-cap wasn't been re-done and that the game wasn't old enough to justify a remaster, this makes that look normal. trash like this is normalising previously unnaceptable stuff, what ever will they do next?

your comment sounds like a good point but food and videogames are different, the comparison you make is invalid. Just look how many people have moved onto PS from XBOX, gamers don't hang around with a bad product, they listen to their friends, see what else is on offer and leave. The don't complain that their favourite xbox game isn't as good as the last xbox game that they played and wait for a replacement - like you can with food, they leave, and realise PS has better content. ...
so what will get them out of third place? More consoles sold? Because if they make a tonne of money without selling more consoles will they only ever be in 3rd? How much money, in particular how much more money than Sony do they have to make (without selling more consoles) before they're no longer considered to be in 3rd place? Does it only ever come down to console sales. Ever. The money they've spent buying Activision/Blizzard isn't far behind the market cap of Sony currently so...
There is no competition, you have PC gamers (super-nerds), Nintendo (kids & families), PS5 (young adult - adult), XBOX (desperate fanboy fools). These are the distinctly different lanes and there will never be any cross-over.

TBH, i've not played an 'only on PS5' game yet, they've all been cross-gen. So I can't justify buying a PS5 slim just yet having not taken full advantage of the 5
