All of the levels in the PS2 version were split into multiple segments with loading screens in between, unlike the PC version which had large seamless levels. The loading times were a bit long too. The segmented design and constant loading screens is definitely the biggest downside, and after playing the PC version, it's hard to go back. The levels are pretty much exactly the same, but having a big seamless area is much more immersive.

Controls were also a bit weird. Grap...

"Reach itself is still one of the best looking (if not THE best looking) FPS game on consoles, among 3-4 other games at the top each excelling in something different)."

What.

I haven't upgraded anything for over a year, still maxing out every game, 1920x1080, and 60fps. Even Battlefield 3 isn't really demanding, as I have that maxed out with 30-60fps. And this is all on a GTX 560 ti, a midrange GPU at the time released more than a year ago. The whole "6 month upgrade" thing is a myth. I'm not planning on changing my graphics card for a long time either, because I see absolutely no reason to.

Even though the upfront price is ...

"You can see jaggies a mile away n 1080p because of the sharpness and resolution. AA is important at any resolution inside of 4K."

Jaggies are a byproduct of resolutions that are lower than the display's native resolution. 720p with 16xAA looks worse than 1080p and no AA, you can try it with any game. Upping the resolution is the single most determining factor in reducing the amount of jaggies. This is why "downsampling" is the most effective type of a...

I remember completing Silent Hill 3 in 4 and a half hours on first playthrough (according to the playtime, but it didn't counts deaths which could pull it towards 5 and a half hours), and not regretting paying full price or thinking it ended quickly. That's probably the only game I can say that about though.

You're right about the CPU. Ehh. An i3 2100 would be less bottleneck-ish and still in that price range.

An HD 6850 would actually run pretty much everything out there maxed out at 1080p. It is far from a low-mid settings GPU, despite being a "budget GPU" compared to the current cycle.

"it looks great on pc"

From my experience with the Modern Warfare 3 free Steam weekend, it looks TERRIBLE on PC. I'd go so far to say that the console version is more aesthetically pleasing to look at because you can't see how truly awful the textures, polygons, lighting, and terrain is through the layer of sub-hd jaggies and blur. Yes, it's that bad. For some reason, it has this weird vaseline smear look to it. Modern Warfare 2 on PC actually looked pre...

Miyazaki confirmed, "Yes, It’s basically a faithful port. There’s no change to the resolution. The frame rate won’t be 60 FPS."

I don't think From Software gets how PC games work, honestly. He seems to think that making it "faithful" is a good thing. Hopefully this is some miscommunication error.

The free DLC doesn't make up for the fact that the PC version is being locked to 720p and 30fps, and no graphics options at all. That's a ridiculous new low in port quality. I might as well buy it on PS3 if that's in the final build.

Console gamers deserve the DLC.

PC gamers deserve a better port.

If you turn off Advanced DOF, the game runs smooth as butter. It's a framerate killer. GTX 560 ti, and was able to run it at 1920x1080, constant 60fps with everything maxed out, even Physx, except for Advanced DOF. Apart from that, it's some good optimization.

It was a Dreamcast game that later got ported to PS2. And it is a GREAT game. Extremely cool art direction, awesome music (Jesper Kyd, known for Assassin's Creed and the famous Halo theme), and a non-serious story with a lot of humor.

Visuals aside and strictly speaking of performance/graphics ratio, Frostbite 2 on PC has amazing optimization, but it definitely still needs some more work on current-gen consoles.

You completely butchered the gameplay and style of Left 4 Dead. That's like wanting Uncharted 4 to be an open-world co-op FPS focused on multiplayer.

Left 4 Dead is a co-op arcade shooter. That part doesn't need to change. All I want from Left 4 Dead 3 is a new set of maps, preferably in a new setting like dense cities or an eastern country. New weapons, new special infected, more consumables, and new gameplay elements.

That's basically what L4D2 ...

^^Steam overlay isn't a version of Steam, it's a feature that's also on PC. It's basically the in-game XMB/dashboard of Steam.

If I remember correctly, the end of Crysis 2 heavily suggested that either Alcatraz has become Prophet due to the suit, or Prophet is still alive. I'm leaning with the first one though, because Prophet's body is definitely dead.

The NeoGAF thread pretty much confirms that the game is back to sandbox-style levels like Crysis 1, and the EA press release iterates this point multiple times. So no more Crysis 2 linearity.

The PC will get everything the Enhanced Edition does in a free patch, including gamepad improvements. So to answer your question, yes.
