My favourite PS1 games have always been the Oddworld Oddysee and Exodus.
I think it would be amazing to have your scorned lover having an OTT response, like setting fire to your beard or running away with your pet dog. I think that in a big RPG it could add an ultimately unnecessary but highly entertaining extra layer.
