The same thing they think when they release completely broken games like Outriders or garbage like Avengers and Balan, or sell DLC for full price like Dragon Quest XI S; They simply don't care about their playerbase.
... Also it deletes your gear and locks you out of your character completely. Yes, 4/5 for sure.
Also inventory wipe issues which shouldn't exist since the game is online-only.
Good, scalpers will have more things to buy within 10 seconds of being available. What is the point of adding characters when you can't even supply the ones you have?
Someone at Sony should be fired for letting a bugged patch go through. I thought patches were suppose to be held to a higher standard on consoles but we can't even trust them anymore.

Basically. Square Enix put more money towards the cutscenes and paid metacritic user reviews than developing the game itself.
