MGS 1 and 3 were amazing and 2,4 and 5 were really enjoyable but 4 and 5 weren't true MGS games. I haven't played Death Stranding so I'll reserve judgement. Kojima has great imagination but I think he is influenced too much by other games. MGS 5 did not need to be open world for example. MGS 4 was too much the opposite and too much jumping between locations and the boss fights not as good as past games. We need a new game from him with the magic of the original MGS!

At a recent conference in London, a colleague of mine (we're in the games industry) saw dev kits for the Xbox Lockhart and Xbox Anaconda. These are the codenames for both models of the Xbox Scarlett. The Anaconda is quite powerful but the Lockhart is actually weaker than the Xbox One X. Not sure if the PS5 will be similar. Hard to believe a version of the next Xbox will be weaker than a version of the previous gen.

That's not necessarily true because an engine is just a codebase that can be branched and tailored for each game it's used to make. Hardware is so much better now that engines can be more generalised to begin with and modified to suit the game. Though nowadays, they are used more so as marketing tools than anything else because non-programmers don't really understand what they are.
