From what I've played it definitely wasn't a step in the right direction. Boring, rip off version of They Live's story, with boring characters, in a world that makes no sense when you actually think about it. The dialogue presented in the game made me cringed every time they spoke, especially when New Dante did a horrible one liner.
The combat was way too simple and slow for my taste and resembled too much like other HnS games like God of War or Dante's Infer...

You people realize he is the reason DmC exists right? He does view games as art he views them as products that have to be sold for more and more money. Because of him for awhile Japanese developers were put in a bad light because of the things he's been saying for the past few years. He isn't even the sole creator of Mega Man there are at least two other people attached to that franchise yet he get's all the credit.

Because his sword monologue sounds kind of silly and it in an anti-climatic way. People forget the American commercial shows a lot more crazy action too which is what will grab peoples eye for the game. It's also not the only commercial for Rising that is showing in America.

That's exactly what is. It's the starting of a new franchise within the established one. People will still get their classic MGS while fans of Raiden and Action games will also get Metal Gear Rising.
It's a way to expand the brand and get more people into the series which I thought was a good thing.

I just want to note that VR Missions are ALREADY IN THE GAME, the DLC is just for an extra 30 VR missions. The game already has it's own set of VR Missions.

2. It's not Metal Gear Solid, it's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The game has plenty of replayability, 5 difficulties including 3 Hard Mode variants (Hard, Very Hard, Revengeance) each difficulty increasingly becoming more and more challenging in each level.
It's going to take awhile for people to master the gameplay unlike DmC where it's very easy for people to pick up a...
