And you sir are just blinded or just blind. I've experience the dvd transition, and through simple observation hd formats are actually growing much faster than dvd in relation to shelf space.
As for your up converted dvd's its just fine... that just proves you have not seen movies in hd-dvd or blu-ray. I have a 300 dolla...
Their system is more stable and has more features than their older systems.
Plus sony in the past was still faced from competition from nintendo and sega.

and guess what I own a gcube, ps2, xbox 1, and ps3.
And the pc can plug a controller in it, and I can plug the computer to my projector in the living room.

Games that are found on the console and pc are simply better graphically than the console.
Why because a pc simply has more horsepower to pump out visual quality of the games.
But this thing brings up the debate that the pc costs more..... wtf does that have to do with the game itself.
Plus the control schema is more flexible on a pc, if ppl truly like the control pad over the mouse.... umm guess what you can plug a pc with a control pad and connec...

2) ps1 and ps2 support is at least ~8 years, their track history seems that they will promise this for the ps3 also
3) they are taking iniative in helping developers learn the cell, whether ppl think its an overated hardware, they show commitment

Oblivion (smoother and farther draw distance)
The darkness (better blacks)
And dirt is better also (lighting seems better and smoother)
Time for some 1st party games now.
Its really not doing so bad for a 9 month old system
1) most ppl still have a band width limit
2) digitial distribution is a format in itself, ppl have a preference in the electronics they buy. Meaning if I PAY and download a movie I wouold like it to be portable. Meaning I want this file I paid for to be able to transfer over to another electronic unit without the worry about compatiblity issues in the future with other players.
3) internet is still not fast enough to download HIGH quality videos in a timely matter.
are not duplicate purchases due to defects.
I dont think it will be possible to find that out since its hard to acquire this type of stat.

But HOnestly if your concerned about defects in the console, then I suggest you not to get it just yet until they release a reliable version of the console.
Bioshock seems much more single player focused, so it does not really rely on multiplayer community, hence you can pick up this game any time in the future and still enjoy it.
