The way they could get him back is to have someone "hack" the Animus and explore its memory banks or some such nonsense.
That's why you can still 'play' the memories of Connor in the game even after SPOILER Desmond is dead.
They can always explain anything away...

I agree I think they could do a lot of fun interesting games but the ones that have been announced are not as good as they could be
