How do people keep saying this?

The witcher 3...on a single GTX 1080...runs in 4k at a little under 50fps.

That card is around 50% more powerful than what Scorpio's gpu was announced to be...

One step at a time. I'd think most of us would be happy that the industry is FINALLY releasing console hardware that can FINALLY make 1080/60+ a minimum requirement...4k gaming is in its infancy still, and the scorpio isn't even as powe...

Well it's a typical article that just lifts information from another article that came a few days ago...There are a handful of additional changes on top of FFA coming soon, it's just this article skips all of that for w/e reason...

There is an 'arcade mode' coming to single player...additional UI overhauls coming to snapmap, and a heavier emphasis on popular maps, as well as their creators, being easier to find...

When asked about single p...

The reference to 'pulling a doom' is entirely related to Doom 2016 having radio silence before release back in may...a publisher move that typically ends with a game being awful. Remember all the head lines? 'We didn't get a review copy for Doom so it's going to suck/vaporware/trash/moveon, etc.' Doom 2016 was fantastic, which doesn't go in line with the lack of review copies given to t...

I mostly agree with the list, too...

but MGS4 over half way down the list? That's pushing it, even more when they ranked MGS2 higher...MGS4's fan service is arguably unmatched to this day (the Rex vs. Ray fight, the return to Shadow Moses, the freaking final boss fight...?), yet didn't sacrifice anything to add it in...It's the last 'real' MG, even though I too really liked phantom pain...

InTheLab, exactly.

My guess is that remains the biggest hurdle for console and dd. PC has become nearly solely digital distribution; most physical release discs are nothing more than a link to the steam, origin, etc. store page...but that isn't quite as big of a deal, as upgrading a PC, getting a new PC, getting a new OS, etc...you can still use the software (in most cases, anyway)...

currently consoles don't do that...MS may be trying to change t...

Epic, iD, Valve...pay attention to what any of the founders of those companies talk about and you'll see a very common distrust for MS. Some of them started as MS employees to begin with. It's nothing new, and i've never come across a situation where it wasn't warranted, either. MS has had arguably the biggest piece of the gaming pie literally in their front yard...and have d...

but then again it brings in a whole other mess...

say something like BF4? Is it's multiplayer an RPG? Huge amounts of stat building and comparisons (in weapon/vehicle damage and loadouts I mean, not just comparing personal stats to someone else), mixing and matching risk vs. reward, personal vs. team/squad based skills and abilities, etc.

@frostypants

Fitting genre's into neat little boxes like that no longer works...Nearly everything borrows from other entirely different games...and that isn't something that all of sudden happened, it's been going on for an extremely long time...

Role-playing games could be anything that does exactly that...a focus on a character (or set of them), and the player derived development of it/them.

All 'rpg' really means ...

the game has 'possible' unlocked frames and 4k res on PC...Seeing that very few released cards are all super great at running any game released this year at 4k and 60 or above fps...all of which are well north of 6tflops...doesn't paint a great picture for scorpio hitting the same marks...

it may do 4k to some degree...but i'd be more happy and accepting of a console hitting full hd at 60fps minimum...currently still isn't an option for 90% of games...1 ...

@yetter...context is key with that statement from JC.

He said it in early 2014, when DX11 still (and continues to) have a massive governance on PC development/hardware.

The irony is that scorpio HELPS this aspect of PC overhead. There are already low level api's for PC, but not that many games use them yet. Doom has recently shown what Vulkan w/ async compute can effectively do on PC's (at least those with amd gpus.............) BF4 showed promise...

Kind of jumping to conclusions.

Where is MS talking about exclusive content for the scorpio? Developers will 'take advantage of it's hardware more than PC'? Where is anyone getting that? It's like every time MS goes on record and discusses these things, some of you just ignore it and continue to think they're going to handle it like they used to.

Most have touched on the 'important' issues, so I won't keep rehashing that. I've been a father for eight months to the day. My only pro tip would be: get into woodworking as well as your current hobbies. You're an artist, you're probably very creative, and with just a bit of practice and research along with a few relatively inexpensive tools and supplies...you can build things like cribs and baby gates and stuff that'll m...

Still on my sapphire 280x TE from fall 2013...What throttling did you have in BF4? I've had zero issues with the card, and kind of impressed that it'll now hold over 60fps at 1080 ultra in Doom with vulkan.

Not sounding accusatory, I just mean most refer to the 280x as one of the more stable and least problematic AMD gpu's over the past several years. It's very much approaching low end by today's standards, but I just haven...

@TheCommentator:

are you serious? The PS3 had '2.1 Tflops'? typo, right?...You're saying it's 'better' for system balance to release something with a weaker gpu, and that that makes it overall more efficient?...That MS was ahead of the curve against the PS4 by gimping the gpu, losing literally on every single multiplat game ever released this gen, and being one of the most quickly forgotten consoles of modern gaming...and that was...on purpose?

Completely agree. I'm pretty cpu bound most of the time for any game. Still using an A10 6800k w/ igpu disabled, but OC'd to 4.8ghz. I can get by, could still hold a little over 60fps in BF4 multiplayer...but, I expected Doom to hurt more on the gpu side...
