Another crap MGS?
MGS 1,2,3,4 are all really good. MGS:TPP looks to also be good. I like how the story is going and we already know that the gameplay is going to be awesome from GZ.
I think there's a few things that need to be cleared up.
I'm sure that Sony also said "Toy Story quality".
The truth about Killzone came out within days. The lie started from one Sony employee, Phil Harrison (now at MS).
I thought the Killzone graphics where pretty damn close to the render. Some parts not as polished but some parts were better, like more realistic faces and facial animations. Overal it's a close match.

For anybody talking about Amazon sales. Check about 9pm tonight GMT time and between 1pm and 4pm in the US. The November and and November 24th bestsellers will have another update will more data from over Black Friday. When it updates it is always a day or 2 behind. We will get a clearer picture then.
They already have announced 2 bundles for Black Friday. GTA + TLOU with console for $399 and Lego Batman 3 + LBP3 with console for $399. Should be big
I think you're missing the point that is trying to be made ST.
Traded in games cost developers. It doesn't matter if I,you or anybody chooses not to support it, there will still be a lot of gamers out there ready to snap up games at slightly reduced prices (profit that doesn't go to developers/publishers).
Like you say, EBay and Amazon also support this type of practice but nowhere to the scale that GS does. GS are pretty good at expoliting the us...

Hype is usually generated by the companies of a product and both companies have tried to generate their own hype.
Let's not forget that the PS4 also launched at a lower price and the PS3 has been outselling the 360 worldwide since launch. The Playstation is a stronger brand worldwide than Xbox.
Hype helps but Sony created its own advantages.

@Zod. Sony might have to pay for games to be exclusive but it will cost far less to get exclusive games.
The publishers will want to maximise their profits so Sony will have to compensate for lost sales that would of been on other consoles. So the publishers will more than likely want Sony to cough up the predicted profit that they would of made on other consoles in order to keep it exclusive. EA Access conflicts with Sony's PS+ service (which by the way has EA games on).
People can argue that one is better than the other but Sony thinks it will have a negative impact on PS+ so it makes good business sense.
Don't get this confused by comparing EA Access with PS Now though. PS Now is a whole new different service.
I wouldn't be surprised with 2018. But we not not even get another generation of tradional consoles. We have no idea which way the industry will go over the next 5 years. This is what what Mark Cerny explains about.
People get confused with the 10 year life span thing.
What they mean is that they aim to support a console for 10 years. What this also means is that the support for a console can overlap another. For instance the PS3 is still being supported now while they have their newer console out.

There are some great and deep games out there that don't have great visuals.
I like visuals as much as the next man but all games do not have to be visually impressive. It's nice to mix it up a little
I agree. It seems they talk a lot about it being filmic so lets hope that they don't forget about gameplay.

If you think that the X1 was revealed first then you need to read up on it a bit more.
The PS4 was revealed in Feb 2013, months before the X1. Sony outlined their plans for the PS4 in Feb and not once did they mention about storing all your games onto the console (physical or digital), which then inherents all the strict DRM to keep it under control.

But the big factor is that one wanted and made big steps to put them in place while the other made no announcements on introducing strict DRM.
There is no point at showing patents and speculating because if you think that they were going to have the same DRM, it's an OPINION. While MS trying to use strict DRM is FACT.

The market isn't saturated, not even close, it's not even 1 year in.
Sales are slowing? Yes they are but that's because we are in the slowest selling months of the year. It will pick up again around Sept and continue to rise until Dec. Once we get into next year then we can start comparing the months in 2015 to the months in 2014 and then we can make a judgement on declines. Even 2 years of data still might not give a good picture.
Kojima clearly still has passion for MGS but I think he also wants to try something else, something different and Konami are probably restricting him a little.
