You've got to be kidding me? They've reduced their losses by 50% from one year to the next. It's a fact that most consoles loose money per console at first to boost install base. Money is made on software anyway and not on the console.
MS lost money for the entire life cycle of its first console man. This is just the nature of things.
The only depressing thing about this is that, it looks like the console might not get a price drop for a while.
Dude ... what are you going on about? I'm not speaking for the xbox community. I'm agreeing with those who commented about MGS being a rather Niche game. I've even posted in review threads supporting people who've reviewed the game less then a 9 because I believe this game isn't one that appeals to everyone. Whether its a known franchise or not.

Chart-track just came in with MGS4 on top again. Everything in here is a mute point.
Either way, I cannot speak for all PS3 fans. Only for myself. I know MGS4 is a great game that will sell well. I don't pretend to think it's the end all be all of gaming sales though.
I'm not saying anything different than xbox fans did previous to MGS4's release when speculation was the in thing to do for MGS4 sales. This isn't a justification, its fact. It's not like the game was a wimp in sales anyway.
MGS4 is for a much smaller niche market then Lego Indiana Jones which would sell due to the name alone.
Don't get me wrong guys. I think MGS is better then the games listed which scored better on this site.
I'm still capable of understanding that MGS is a series that not everyone is going to like. It's getting a lot of 10's. It's only natural that someone is going to dislike it.
So far, I'm only just starting chapter 4, it's the best game I've played. I'm not surprised by these random 8's the game is getting though. MGS is just a series that some people love and some people don't. It's not a pick up and play game that I would recomend to just anyone.
Like I said ... I'm glad it's getting a lot of praise, I am just not surprised by some of the lower reviews.
I thought GT5 would do it too, but now I don't think so very much. It might help, but beyond this game, I don't see anything helping until WKC and FFXIII come out. Those games should start to push PS3's pretty well.

Can you give examples how? Like I said earlier, the two games seem rather different other then user created content.

that they know full well what they're missing from their line-up. Everyone knows the PS brand has gone hand in hand with JRPG's. I think the lack of these types of games is one huge reason why the PS3 isn't flying off of the shelves in Japan as well.
What confuses me is why Sony doesn't seem to be getting in gear with them. In the meantime, MS is securing timed exclusives and such. Sony needs to give us some sort of a definite timeline in which to look forward to games like FFXI...

I don't see how anyone could disagree. Sony needs to get back on the ball and give us some damn RPG's. FFXIII and WKC start it all ... but when ....

My only hope, with the game coming out so much later then the launch of the PS3, is that they have a world wide release.
Both Sony and MS are trying different things. Sony is trying to get into the shooter market. They're doing fairly well. MS is trying to get into the RPG market. They're doing better than Sony so far.
MGS4 saw huge sales in Japan. The bundle also pushed consoles. Imagine what FFXIII is going to do over there. I think Sony's lack of attention to RPG's has led a less then excited Japanese market.
Sony needs to help get these things out ASAP.

Sony needs to start getting some RPG's out there. It's one of the reasons I bought my PS3. I'm sure it's one of the reasons a lot of you bought your PS3's.
