I agree. Not every game suits a large number of players.
I love Natural Selection 2 PC, but anything more than 20 players turns into an unenjoyable spamfest.
DDR5? Wow! And here I was waiting for DDR4 to come out...
There's truth in that one.
My gaming PC weighs a tonne and sounds like a hoover when it's playing a demanding game and I have to turn the fans up. It really isn't something I would want in my living room :)
That being said I still prefer PCs as I love tinkering with things.
And you'll never see a game like The Settlers 7 or Civilization V on the consoles. So what? Each platform has great exclusives. Pick which one you prefer and move on :)
These articles are getting boring.
If you want to buy something that runs the latest games decently without tinkering with anything and which has a cheaper upfront cost, but with more expensive games and online go for consoles.
If you want to buy something that runs the latest games maxed out after tinkering with things and which has a more expensive upfront cost, but cheaper games go for the PC.
Each to their own.
Personally...
Same here. I am a PC gamer primarily, but have a soft spot for Nintendo so own a 3DS which has loads of great games (in the middle of Fire Emblem: Awakening at the moment). The Playstations and Xboxes just don't do anything I can't do on the PC better.
Only just cleared my backlog of games bought in previous sales over the past couple of years.
Looks like I'll just have to create another backlog now :)
Going to get Gone Home which is 50% off at the moment as its normal price of 15 GBP was a bit steep for a game that lasts just a few hours. I'll throw in the Stanley Parable and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs while I'm at it!
Why the two disagrees? It is a fact that it doesn't beat high-end gaming PCs.
Err, which PC are we talking about? They tend to vary in specifications.
But it is stupid to suggest it beats high-end gaming PCs.
A level guide? Are they having a laugh? It's a head-on train crash. What can you do beyond running into a hail of bullets, die, and then repeat?
They rule the roost when it comes to convenience, sure, but if you are looking for the best graphics experience, the ability to upgrade and so on PCs win.
But as you say it depends on the individual.
Err, no. The majority of recent PC games will run happily at 1600p all the way to 4K if you have the GPUs to handle it.
1080p has largely become the minimum standard in PC gaming so it strikes me as strange that these next-gen consoles are struggling to reach even that.
Been playing every game I have in 1080p without trouble since 2009 when I got into PC gaming again.
Wow, these consoles are so next-gen! :)
Last game I bought on disc was Galactic Civilizations 2 three years ago only because it was much cheaper than the download versions.
PC is primarily digital now as everyone knows.
Meh, I'll stick with hundreds of players and vehicles fighting in a persistent world with multiple objectives and you can carry on enjoying the dumbed-down Battlefield (compared to the older PC games)with its supernova sun and small maps.
Planetside 2 says hello.
The Work Bench screen brings back memories :)
The Amiga 500 got me into gaming with Worms, Civilization and Settlers 20 years ago. It's crazy that I'm still playing Civ and the Settlers now! Not Worms anyway as Team 17 went to shit since the creator of Worms left.
It's more about showing what will be possible in a few years. Even after buying a 4K display it will bring the best single GPU cards to their knees trying to run demanding games.
At the moment it's only viable with extremely expensive SLI/crossfire solutions.
An optimisation patch is coming out on the PC soon so it shouldn't run as badly. So you could play it in the meantime on the PC building up your character and getting loads of unlocks and then transfer it to the PS4 when it comes out.
Forget all those, buy Settlers 7.
Awesome game. It's a shame there's not word of Settlers 8.
