I've thought about that too, how much I already miss games from the Genesis era.
I actually have a zip file on my desktop of PC version of Mega Collections. Yep...100 measly megs and I have games that I paid 50 bucks for at one time. HMDI was added only to completely comply with the HD standard should there be a customer with a TV that for some reason lacks component HD, or if HDMI ever became standard (which it has).

I hope for the best but I'll always suggest a netbook before an iPad. 10.1" and up, 1.6Ghz Atom and up, 1 GB that's upgradeable to 2, and a big 160GB hard drive.
For what iPad does it's not worth being more than a netbook. But it might be for those looking to 1up their coworkers during lunch.
Agreed, it's great for what it can do and it's just like you said. That you have to really use it to appreciate it.

Move probably won't do too well with hardcore gamers either, unless the games have a special "move" oriented control set. But many hardcore games already map out onto every friggin button on either 360 or PS3's controller, so you're going to be missing some functions.
Kinect could be awesome, since it recognizes gestures. Like holstering to switch weapons or any other function that normally gets its own button.

It's an advanced piece of video game hardware, and you have to understand that Microsoft is trying something that isn't going to be immediately comparable with what we have now. This is going to take a while, and it's probably not even gonna see its prime until next gen.
Off topic, a while ago there was speculation that Xbox 720 games would be forward compatible (new game running on older hardware). Any news on that?
