Oh, not-so-obvious note: this is just a PS3 beta, doesn't seem to be a Vita beta yet. At least when I entered my code on my Vita, it wouldn't let me download it.
Thus far the Vita has been horribly under utlized. The launch was meh, and the past 5 months have been like the past few years for the PSP -- next to nothing. When is Sony going to learn that SOFTWARE sells hardware. People aren't just going to buy it because it's awesome and plays youtube videos.
I agree with Seb about the exclusives, though I also agree with Cam that sometimes the smaller titles need the publishing support that exclusivity brings to be able to publ...
You beat me to the exclamation!
yeah, been looking forward to Sound Shapes since launch. will it just be on PSN, or will there be retail versions too?
I'm not sure I'd call it a relationship. Xbox is the wife, and Playstation is the girlfriend that Bethesda occasionally has relations with, stringing her along with implied promises that maybe someday he'll leave that bitch wife and they can start a life together. But we all know that it will never happen.
Publishers like to make money. When a platform holder like Microsoft promises them X amount of said money to give them their stuff first, then it becomes a busi...
ummm.... what?
Puddle is an apt description of the depth of Vita software at the moment...
@Mika not that I'm surprised, just disappointed. PS3 got a slow start because of the lack of games. The PSP died because the games dried up because of piracy. I was just optimistic that Sony would have tried to line up the pipeline with at least a few morsels every couple weeks.
Granted, there have been some pretty decent games already and we're only about 5 months into its life in North America...
You can't get Metal Gear Peace Walker from the store, but if you download it to a PS3 you can load it up through the content manager. At least I was able to a few firmwares ago, I might have just gotten lucky.
The one thing I will say about the Vita drought is it has gotten me to take a 2nd look at some PSP titles I missed or neglected. Cladun and Cladun X2 are great. And of course Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is hours and hours of awesome... but sad because I fear it'...
I love the God of War soundtracks, especially GoW3. I love that rumbling low brass.
For something different, play through inFamous and listen closely to the music.
Red Dead Redemption had that great ambient layering of musical fragments that blended right into my systematic butchering of every animal in the Old West.
It's not very fair to compare this generations music to even the last generation -- just the jump in technology to go fro...
If you already have a PS3, and are just looking for a replacement or a 2nd console for another room... wait. If you don't already have a PS3, then you are obviously mental and should buy one now.
I got all excited... but then I got sad.
Our children's children will call it the "Great Vita Drought of '12"...
There was a pretty decent launch window, and then it's sort of sucked ever since. Didn't they learn their lesson with the PSP? The PS3? Software sells hardware. To some extent the reverse is true too, but if there is nothing to play on the device, what is the point of the device?
Yay, I wanted to try out escape plan but the demo kept giving me fits. I'll try downloading again. Now if only I could play my free PSOne games... *crickets*
Vita? ... ? ... ?
If anything is killing the Vita it's the lack of ... you know... games. Sound shapes is coming soon, but most of the real big games won't be here for months.
it was incredibly stupid of them to show that it was POSSIBLE to play full blu-ray games remote play on the Vita if they weren't planning to release that as an actual feature.
But still, they never promised it as a feature.
Either way, they need to do something to keep the Vita relevant. They have some great games in the pipeline, but that doesn't do much for me now when I have nothing worthwhile to play. It harkens back to the early days of the PS3 w...
New Vita games? ... (crickets) ...
I'm really looking forward to Rainbow Moon, looks very very good
You'd think shareholders would care more about the profitability of the company than how difficult it is to find the company's headquarters. Spend your time making some games, not herding stupid shareholders that can't find the building.
I was hoping for more Vita goodness. *sigh*
The scope concepts would be cool, but I imagine that would be a next gen technology if it ever sees the light of day. I doubt Bluetooth has the necessary bandwidth to be pushing a real-time video feed, even at low resolution.
