Every once in a while somebody here on N4G says something really well-grounded. Pangit, today that person is you. Koehler, you were almost awesome, but as pangit said you blew it at the start.
If similarity in the overall architecture comes as a surprise to anyone reading this, you are drastically uninformed. Years of game-making have shown programmers what works, what is easy to use, and what isn't. Similar architecture shouldn't just be expected, it should be demanded by both game devs and gamers alike.
We want our games to be the best. Period.
Graphics HELP a game. They don't make the game. Luckily, Deus Ex is a great game at its core.

Agreed. I have a million different ways to stream content. What I don't have is enough high-quality exclusives to enjoy on my xbox 360. Halo 4 looks awesome, as does Gears: Judgment, but I see my Xbox as a games machine first, everything else second.

That's a great point. Many seem to forget that new hardware will bring vastly improved phsyics, AI, and new ways to play and tell a story.
It's not the visuals that make a new generation of gaming exciting after seven years of this current gen, it's the new experiences and ways to play only possible with better tools.

I live in the real world where budget and time and value are huge. I would LIKE to have the time and money to care about Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but my wife and child need as much from me as possible, thus I have to be EXTREMELY choosey about where my money and time go, and MH3U just barely doesn't make the cut. Ah, reality, you damn dream killer.
