"Heller wants to play Portal 2 on PC but Tano only has it on the PS3."

Tano did it to himself by relying on some company to provide him online access for all his games. He should go open platform and just get a PC, no need to rely on some company just for online access lol.

Anyways in this day and age almost everyone has a PC, you just need a GPU added on to started playing games much better then console.

Dam 32usd is insane, the best i could get was 45usd from D2D summer offer.

Who ever said you need to spend 1000usd+ to get a good gaming PC. It can be done within 600-800usd.

Cheaper prices of games will ensure in the long run its much cheaper then console.

Agreed the otherOS is merely an excuse to hack the console and more over its mostly going to be used for piracy anyways, Sony has all the right to protect itself.

If anyone really does want a platform that they want to be completely in control of then they should be looking at the PC.

Well technically they do decide how the PS3 does work. Same goes for MS in regards to the Xbox 360.

If they dont want you using a certain software there isnt much you can do about it, without voiding the EULA agreement anyways.

You arent centrally controlled at one point with the PC, where your entire online gaming library can be compromised if something goes wrong.

Also no company has control over you, its an open platform.

Mods are awesome man, too bad the current console gold rush is causing developers to drop support for mods, just so they can charge for DLCs.

I personally played the following games with mods:

Witcher
Oblivion
Crysis
Stalker COP
dragon age
different tombraider games

Its been a great experience most of the time.

Edit: you can hook up a PC to a TV for console like experience...

Hell yea, we know its down.. why keep repeating the same stuff.... let us know when its back up.

Anyways its not like it effects me, i game on Steam anyways.

Great i went for a real PC and not some locked down controlled computer. Would suck to have my CC details with some hacker.

Yea but Mass Effect has become a run and gun shooter tbh, its not much of a RPG anymore.

While that may not be a bad thing for people looking for a shooter with dialogue anyone looking for an RPG exp should look else where.

So why doesnt Sony offer a open platform type approach like the PC does. People shouldnt have to rely on a single network for their online gaming needs.

PSN should be like Steam where it allows the community to get together and communicate with each other and it should record trophies etc however everyone should have direct access to connect to games.

There should be dedicated servers for games where people can use browsers to log on manually. I dont see ...

It only does everything, Including being able to play old games ;-)

@brandon

Consoles are for those who get deluded into paying the intial price of 300usd then pay more for everything else, thinking its cheap.

While making a PC that will rofl stomp a console will cost 500usd. Almost everyone has a 2-3 yr old PC upgrading that to something that will beat console multiple times will only cost 80-100usd.

Get with the times man, console gaming is expensive, specially once you consider how much more costly g...

@slavish

They leave it out because they dont want people to be able to extend the lives of games. Also what happens to DLC if mods are allowed.. thats right DLC dies. Which means less money for Sony, MS and the devs so they rather milk the console crowd since most console gamers are unaware about mods to begin with, hence they end up paying for what should be free. It ends up having a spill over effect on the PC as well, since we end up having our mod tools taken away just ...

Why pay to play when i purchased the same game for 7.5usd on Steam ;-)

Indeed the ram in the current consoles is really piddly, when you consider you can get 4GB of ram today for as much as 40usd.

I see no reason why next consoles shouldnt have 8gb ram atleast.

4752d ago 40 agree2 disagreeView comment

Ram is really cheap these days. If it allows developers a little extra levy then why not. Not every developer out there can program with the strict limitations present in current consoles and it then results in games not performing well.

If the extra ram helps overcome this problem then why not. I am sure the consumer wouldnt mind paying 30-40usd extra for so much extra memory.

The way its going it will just result in PC gamers not picking up console ports at full price. Many of us have started waiting for discounts to buy games now. Since i think its unjustified to pay even 50usd for console ports, let alone 60usd which EA and Activision want to charge.

Also it will impact purchases of PC hardware, as anyone who bought hardware as much as 2-3 years ago doesnt need to upgrade.

After hearing the recent Wii 2 anouncements and rumo...

Console gaming is expensive man, Once you consider how much extra you pay on the games.

The 300usd initial price tag is just deluding the people to later on pay more on everything.

I am sure a month later portal 2 will be up on same Steam discount, thats how PC gaming works.

I personally bought L4D 2 few weeks after launch for about 36usd, that just doesnt happen with console games.
