Sony developed Move for ten years before bringing it to market.
Nintendo made the controller scheme popular - so...
MS decided to get a piece of the action - buys two or three companies - slaps the device together in great haste - does not stop to realize that it can not compete with Wii / Move - and ends up with a very expensive Eyetoy.

You just can not make this stuff up.

I was very close to getting a Wii - and then the news of the Move came out.
No need for Kinect - I already have all the Eyetoy and most PSEye games - don't see something that Kinect offers that PSeye already has.

Kinect is the overpriced thing in the whole mix. It will disappoint and crash and burn - like HD-DVD.

I will most likely get a PS3+Move bundle. I have 4 kids, and 2 PS3's - launch 60GB and 250GB slim. The fat PS3 YLOD three times already - and is due for replacement.

Families of two. Big whoop.

Two active player. Lets hear the spinning how 2 is the magic number of players for motion controls.

Wow... just Wow...
PSeye has all the type of games that Kinect has. Move has more. And by your math it somehow add up to be less.

Now picture this...
The great Macy demo...
The release of the Move. With all of the PSeye games demoed next to the Kinect. A month ahead of Kinect launch. For less than Kinect. Without lag. With 1:1 hardcore gaming. With table-tennis, golf, LBP2 etc.

Then with fanfare Kinect launches after people had month...

How am I different how?

It is called spinning. Since Kinect demo's became a bit more public, there is a lot of articles trying to justify Kinect.

It is a very expensive PSeye with cool tech - but does not make games possible that the PSeye can not do.

No one denies that some of those games are fun. My kids still play Eyetoy games on my launch PS3 and still enjoy it.

The point is that PSeye did not cost $150 for the camera and $59 per game. Games are for fun - bu...

Read my comment again.
Eyetoy had some great games. There is games that works really nice with the tech. But then you accept that it has lag. For the Eyetoy type games, Kinect will work, and may even work better than Eyetoy - but that remains to be proven.

Now a fps is something different.
I am giving you the scenario after one year:
- Crysis, COD6, Battlefield Bad Company 4.7 etc released - with motion controls. Works OK on Wii, works stellar on PS3....

Kinect is just like the Eyetoy.
Kinect is going to fail. Kinect does not need hardcore games. The XB360 needs a controller that support hardcore games - and Kinect is not it.

btw - Eyetoy games is a lot of fun. The minigames kept my kids entertained for months. PSeye games like Eyepet and the card game was a favorite for a long time. So you will have fun with Kinect. But its appeal is in mini games. Games like fps is going to evolve a lot with motion controls in the n...

Would it not be fun if Sony has a PS2+Eyetoy+complete Eyetoy bundle for $149 during the Kinect launch. Every game similar to the complete Kinect launch titles and more on the previous gen console that works just as well. And just for fun call it the Kinetic bundle.

So lets say you get some sort of shin strap for two Move controllers. Now that would work great with soccer. Just the running part that will be a bit of a problem if you have little space.

So "diversity" is the new word to use for the Kinect Hype train.
The reason why the XBox needs a motion controller that work with hardcore games is simple:
- You buy Kinect and get a laggy controller that does not work with hard core games
- In the meantime, hard core games, including multi platforms implement motion control from the start
- The Wii version works OK, the PS3 version is stellar, and the XB360 version is awkward, laggy and a pain to use...

Yes Soda... and this is where the problem is...
They are desperately looking for some way to use Kinect... but it ends up worse than just using the controller... which defeats the whole purpose.

The problem is that Kinect's cool technology does not have much application in gaming. Sort of making a pair of steel pants and trying to justify it in a swimming competition.

And I would bet that the timing from MS is going to cause the biggest number of pre-order cancellations that we have seen.

Just imagine - More than a full month before Kinect - the Move demo stand right next to the Kinect stand.

The laggy thing with only a few casual games - including some bizarre experiments like the driving with no steering wheel or controller - next to SOCOM, 1:1 tech demo's as we've seen. And for entry level - $49 vs $149.

So they had demo units in Macy and other places.
In September - at least a full month before Kinect hits the street - the Move will be out. Now here is the problem for MS:
- The paid bloggers / FUD mongers can spin the pricing / potential / hype all they want. When the Move is out in store - people will be able to see its capabilities and pricing and know that for entry level - a single Move controller will get them into the motion game. This next to the advertised Kinect - w...

MS started way too early and hyping way too much. The buildup and expectation is now here - and the device can not deliver on the implied capabilities of the hype. Sure it will sell a ton at the start - but the word will get out quickly.

It is called spinning. The outcome was decided before the article was written. If you can not find a negative point - then pretend there is a negative point. Pretend that it is a deal breaker.

Just look at the hardcore XB crowd who suddenly pretend to be into casual games. Not so long ago they were talking about how the Natal camera was going to scan a million lines of resolution and be able to detect every digit of the finger even behind 5 people as the x-ray vision super 3d...

Like graphics - so what if the graphics is not real time ray traced. Does it leave me satisfied that the graphics was great.

Same with the motion controller. Regardless of the underlying tech - does it behave in the way the I expect it to. Does it make me feel that it enhanced the gameplay experience - or is it a fidgety mess that I have to pretend to enjoy because the marketing tells me it is great.

I liked the motion controls on the Warhawk. Will be interesting to see if they have both motion controllers - and how they will measure up. Warhawk was the best DualShock / SixAxis motion control game so far. Would love to see how stick vs controller compares.
