Except for the fact that the Wii U is selling at a magnitude considerably worse than the 3DS ever did. It is incredibly faulty to point to the 3DS turnaround and then say that the Wii U can similarly "make a comeback".

The people who state that the Wii U can simply "pull a 3DS" have absolutely no idea just how bad Wii U sales have been in its post-launch, and are essentially saying that they expect a permanent 400-500% increase in sales rate for the remai...

No, Wii U sales are actually THAT BAD. It's currently selling at a rate that rivals the Dreamcast and Saturn, which isn't a good comparison by any stretch of the imagination.

Nintendo as a whole may not be in any immediate trouble, but the Wii U damn sure is, and is already practically dead in EU.

I can already see people touting the 160K number as units sold rather than shipped, which is a problem because this incorrect assertion will just be regurgitated ad nauseum until it becomes "fact".

^^^Again, not true at all.

It's clear some of you have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't know why people are disagreeing with you. The 160K does represent SHIPPED and not sold. If anyone has followed the NPD data for the months of April thru June, they would see pretty easily that the Wii U has sold more than 60K and 90K in the Americas.

Regardless, this is still bad news as it indicates that the Wii U's sell rate is snail-like.

This excuse makes sense for the 3DS, not for the Wii U.

The 3DS will likely be Nintendo's last clamshell handheld. As far as their last handheld period, I'd wager to say no.

Hoping it's a 3DS game.

Yep, no good games on the 3DS at all.

Um, if you haven't noticed, the casual market ISN'T there anymore. They've tried to pander to them with the tablet controller and are failing miserably.

Great news for Atlus.

Figures that instead of responding to my comment I just get a bunch of disagrees. Then again, considering this is N4Sony, don't know why I expected even that much.

^^^^I'm not so sure the 3DS is mostly made up of casual gamers. The system isn't as mainstream appealing as the DS was, and the majority of its lineup consists of core games.

For a comparison, the DS--->3DS transition is much like the GB--->GBA transition, in which the successors are less popular to the mainstream than their predecessors but remain popular to core gamers because of their libraries.

You're really blaming Nintendo fanboys for why the Vita isn't selling well? Really?

Sounds like a fanboyish excuse to me. Sony isn't infallible, just so ya know.

Surprised to see Project X Zone sold that well. Pending on how well SMTIV performs, Japanese devs may become less hesitant localizing games for the West.

Fire Emblem being more difficult than Advance Wars is debatable.

In my experience, completing the campaign on AW2: Black Hole Rising on its hardest difficulty (i.e. lesser units in comparison to opposing CO, Fog of War on all maps) is one of the most difficult things to do, even for a series veteran.

I don't agree with your assessment that the Wii U is superior to the 3DS, especially in terms of portability and library. But, I won't knock your decision either since the kids seem to enjoy it a lot.

At the end of the day, you enjoy your Wii U more than you did your 3DS, and that's all that matters.

FE: Awakening is very gamer friendly thanks to the Normal+Casual difficulty options added to the game. Honestly, though, if you get it, play it on Hard at the very least. Normal is a cakewalk.

Price drop came in 2011, which is almost 2 years ago.
