OK, I have read several articles that insult the Wii. I am not a complete fanboy (a half fanboy allright. I like Nintendo). I am here to defend this system and to help out the other systems. This is my defense.
First of all the Wii has great games. Games don't have to be gritty and bloody FPS games in order to be hardcore. Any game that is fun to play and is addicting is hardcore. A hardcore gamer puts passion and effort into their games. A casual gamer plays them when they are bored. The Wii has great games. Here is a list of some of them:

There are so many great games. And with the Virtual Console availible the great titles of the past are in one great place. The Wii has hardcore games. Most of the people who are complaning are in college, where they must purchase books, food, and clothing. This means that they will only buy a couple of games anyway.
Now why are you all complaining. The Nintendo games and some third party stuff is great and really fun to play. These are great games and are the hardcore stuff. Unfortunantly, the Wii is now plagued by shovelware titles I do admit. But this is starting to change and by December 2009 this perception may vanish. The PS2 (now, not at launch) has a similar problem. Right now the best NEW game is Persona 4. All the crappy Wii stuff is ported to PS2, and the good developers are focused on PS3. The shovelware comes from companies who want to make a quick buck, so they work for 2 months and release it. That is very sad as the Wii is as powerful as 4 PS2s and 2 Xboxes (it runs slower though). The Wii has online modes which are not perfect but are done well (The PS3 downloads take 4 hours). The Wii doesn't also have DVD and CD playback. It is understandable since most people have DVD players anyway (My TV has a built in DVD player anyway, so why would I need it??). As of 2006 everyone used iTunes and MP3 players anyway.
The Wii online is slightly better than PSN. The Wii has hundreds of downloadable titles and the online for Mario Kart Wii is stellar (You know where everyone else lives in that, so if they get you mad you can go and paintball their house. LOL). The friend codes suck, but some games will get past that eventually. PSN downloads can take up to 4 hours and Wii downloads take up to 20 minutes. The Wii, unlike Xbox Live, doesn't require 50 dollars a year. Mario Kart Wii has all the features of Xbox Live Leaderboards. And the service is free to. Friend Codes are a major gripe and I wish they die.
The Wii doesn't have great graphics. They are usually high-end GameCube looking (Quantam3 is a exception). Games are not all about graphics, but rather gameplay. When I see a Wii game like Zelda and Metroid, I see beautiful worlds. Graphics get better with a system as it ages and the Wii 2 will have Xbox 360 level graphics. Graphics are no reason to b!tch over a system. Unlike the Xbox 360 and some models of the PS3, the Wii is fully backwards compatible with the GameCube games that we love.
The Wii has a small internal memory. I wish that Nintendo would make something to fix it. My idea is that a firmware upgrade can do the job by adding large amounts of gigabytes. A upgrade of some sort is coming so don't complain.
Why do people hate the Wii. The Conduit, MadWorld, House of the Dead Overkill, Sin & Punishment 2, and several other games are coming out in 2009. Quit Complaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please comment. I love hearing people speak their mind.
At least the Wii doesn't have a RRoD or extremely long load times. Every system has great games. There isn't a system like the 3DO or the Jaguar this generation. Every single system is awesome. So stop complaining. Enjoy your system and instead of complaining, just play your games. I am trying to stop this stereotyping. Love your Wii, your 360, your PS3. Please leave a comment. The Wii games will get better.

games like Medal Of Honor, Skate, Shaun White Snowboarding, The Godfather and Blazing Angels might be top Wii games, but they would not be near the top 20 games on the PS3 or X360. And graphics are important, as is physics. If i spent upwards of 2 grand on my home theater system i'd like to have a system that at least takes advantage of it. Not to mention the Wii lacks in the multimedia department, no Blu-Ray (or CD or DVD as you mentioned), no video download service, less DLC, etc. When a large publisher in the industry (Ubisoft) says that the system is geared towards females, that doesn't give a good outlook for the hardcore games coming out for the system especially if other publishers share this mentality.
The wii's online gaming network is a crippled dwarf compared to PSN and Xbox Live, the same and I mean the same goes for the library of games. making a list of Wii games is pointless because I can instantly name you a game on the xbox360 or PS3 that is better in probably the same genre.
The only reason for purchasing a Wii for me would be to give it to my gf or maybe a friend as a gift.
All of the mutiplat are like thousands of times better if you play them on X360 or PS3... The others that aren't multiplat are pure crap and the other couple from Nintendo are just decent.

These are the two decent games. Zelda TP was pretty crappy thanks to the wolf sections and Prime 3 was too easy... Prime 1 and 2 were a lot better, the same With Zelda TP, Wind Walker and Ocarina of Time were better. And none of these used a fancy controller and they had great graphics for their time.
The Wii sucks. End of story. You like the Wii? Then fine... It's your money, taste, opinion. That's you not me. =)
To all of you who are saying the 360 and PS3 are better in the comments here should stop right now. He isn't saying that Nintendo's games are better, he saying that Nintendo does have games. Can none of you read?! Oh, and using the WiiFit board for Shaun White would be INFINITELY more fun that using analog sticks on a controller. "Fun" and "better" are not the same words here, guys.
The Wii isn't total garbage like many of you think it is. All three systems have huge pitfalls. Did you read that correctly? ALL THREE. SSBB doesn't have the same technical muscle as most PS3 or 360 games but it's far better than most 360 or PS3 games. Again, "most" and "all" are not the same words.
By the way, did you ever notice that the Wii has more AAA exclusives than the PS3? Enjoy! :D
