It’s the eighth month of the year already. Went by so fast and vacation is almost over. The holiday season is just over the horizon and with it comes tons of blockbusters, but the question is: Which console had the best exclusives this year?
Exclusive games are what make a console unique. Consumers look at these games, which cannot be played on any other console, and they make their choice. So let me start by saying this, Xbox 360 has been a huge disappointment this year. It hasn’t had a single AAA (90+ on Metacritic) exclusive all year long and it’s highest rated game was Halo Wars, a real-time strategy game. The PS3 on the other hand has enjoyed a steady stream of AAA titles with Killzone 2 and MLB 09: The Show, along with the well received inFAMOUS. As you can see the 360’s highest rated exclusive is lower then the PS3’s lowest rated exclusive.
So now, let’s look at the coming months. These are some of the upcoming exclusive games for each system (only true exclusives are taken into account):
PS3:
Xbox 360
As you can see above there’s a huge difference between both platforms and I’m sure I’m missing some PS3 exclusives. There’s no denying that the PS3 has been THE console to own this year considering all the exclusives and multiplats (games that come to both PS3/360) that have been coming out. If you still haven’t bough a console and you can afford to spend the extra cash, the PS3 is certainly the way to go.
MonsterVine: "During Summer Game Fest 2025, MonsterVine was able to get our hands on the upcoming game and try it out for ourselves."
Gemporium is a mining simulation where you play as a mole who inherits his own gem shop, but also the crushing debt that comes with it. Spend your day mining precious stones and polishing them perfection for your customers.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian launches on September 26th, 2025.
The PS3 has had better games this year, but no self respecting 360 fanboy will accept this without screaming about how many more games are rated over 80% on the 360.
To this I ask how many games above 80% have been released per year on each console?
But I'm admittedly beginning to sound a lot like a fanboy but to this I say I own both I love both console's and especially their games, in the past I have played more 360 exclusive due to gears 2, ME and Fable 2, but lately the tides have turned, so yes I am saying the PS3 has done better than the PS3 this year in terms of games (NOT SALES!).
I don't want to play any of the PS3 games except Uncharted 2.
You forgot Left 4 Dead 2 for 360. Also, Ninja Gaiden 2 has been on 360 for 2 years now. The game is not PS3 exclusive - it simply has a few PS3 exclusive features.
It comes down to:
Uncharted 2, Ratchet, and Demon's Souls
vs.
Left 4 Dead, Halo, and Forza
See my problem with the 360's line-up is that 2/3 of it are FPS, and they really seem to be more of an expansion than full fledged games. Also, Forza 3 looks amazing, but GT5 is rumored to come out this year. Sony has got this one IMO.
Atleast this blog is better than your last "XBOX IS UBER LAMENESS!!" blog. This blog has atleast statistical fact and not just biased garbage.
Anyhoo, MLB 09: The Show isn't a "true" exclusive. It's on the PS2 and the PSP. Sure, they're Sony products but last time I checked PCs ran on Windows. So if L4D2 isn't a true exclusive, MLB isn't either. Fair is fair, right? I also don't like how some of these "untrue" exclusives are basically ignored by PS fanboys. I mean, when comparing the 360 game library to the PS3, games that are on the PC/360 are always ignored. Why? They are available on the 360 and not on the PS3. You can't just suddenly not count those games. I consider MLB 09 exclusive to Sony because it's not on the 360 or Wii. SO what if it's on some other Sony product? It should still count just like L4D2 should and other games of that ilk. They're not a true exlcusives? SO what? These are still games that each company has over the other.
And take Ninja Gaiden off that list. That game was on the XBox first.
