PS3 give me a reason to buy you!

Ok, I've had an xbox 360 for nearly 3 years. Beforehand I was a Playstation lad through and through. But with the delay of the PS3, and the gorgeous games being released for the 360 (not to mention all my friends getting one) I switched to Microsoft. For me the 360 has always delivered great games and more importantly great multiplayer experiances. I dont think I've had more fun than 4 player co-op Terroist hunt in Ranibow Six vegas 1/2, when a perfect plan goes tits up in 5 seconds ending with your friends dead on floor and everyone laughing their heads off at the misplaced C4. The 360 has delivered this kind of fun time after time, with my latest escapades in Gears of War Horde mode, screaming down the mic as 2 boombers come round the corner wiping us out in mere seconds.

With the PS3 finally settling down to a good rythem and releasing more and more exsclusives I have wondered whether or not to buy one. But I keep comming to the same conclusion.

"Theres no point"

Ive seen frineds buy them after owning a 360, then watch it collect layers of dust as we play COD4 MP instead. I like playstation always have done but it's not giving me a good enough reason to buy one. I can certainly afford it with my £32K salary but it dosn't bring anything new to the table. Theres also the big problem of not knowing anyone to play with, due to the fact none of my friends have one either.

With the near release of Killzone 2 I have been eyeing up the PS3 once again, but its still not enough. The only thing that could tip the balance is a price drop and Gran Tourismo (If the full version ever gets released and its really really good).

So I'll sit at my 360 buying games and D/L content whilst paying £5 a month for Live, waiting for Sony to give me reason to buy the big black box.

Bigger, better more frequent exclusives and a price cut.

The price might seem high for a PS3 but there is a lot of stuff packed in there. Blu ray player, wifi built in, bluetooth, internet browser, an actual fan so your console won't overheat, 7 controller ports, 4 USB slots, free online etc..

Concerning games, 2 360 games that were not on PS3, scored 90+ on IGN, those being Gears of War 2 (9.5/10) and Left 4 Dead (9.0/10).

Ps3 had Wipeout HD (9.0/10), Metal Gear Solid 4 (10/10), LittleBigPlanet (9.5/10), Resistance 2 (9.5/10) and Valkyria Chronicles (9.0/10).

Most PS3 games are also at least 32 players online. Warhawk, Killzone 2, SOCOM are all 32 players, while Resistance 1 is 40, and Resistance 2 is 60. There is a game coming out exclusively for PS3 called MAG, 256 players online. And Hardware 2, 100% destructability, and 100 players online.

I've noticed your from England, right? Well, FIFA 09 I can invite up to 6 other friends to play with me because of the 7 controller ports. It is tons of fun. You can do the same with PES.

My next post will be only about games

I totally understand your point of view, but here's mine version of your story. I'm not trying to make fun of you or anything; I only want you to see how easily your words can be switched around.

Ok, I've had a PS3 for nearly 2 years. Beforehand I was a PC lad through and through. But with the piracy and issues of the PC, and the gorgeous games being released for the PS3 (not to mention some of my close friends getting one) I switched to Sony. For me the Playstation platform has always delivered great games and more importantly a great, constantly evolving multiplayer experience. I don't know a single platform that brought me more games with all the PS3 and PS1 games, and since I got the hardware BC version, I even got to try out all the PS2 games. Favorite gaming moments include hard battles in Warhawk, intense action scenes in Uncharted, and the best single player experience ever in MGS4. Since then it has prompted me to buy a PSP, PS2, and DS Lite, giving me more games than I have time for.

With the 360 finally settling down in terms of reliability since the launch of Jasper, I have wondered whether or not to buy one. But I keep coming to the same conclusion.

"There's no point"

I've seen friends buy them after owning a PS3, then watch it collect layers of dust or get sent back for repair as we continue play on the PS3 for free instead. I like the 360 JRPG exclusives, but I already have enough on the PSX, PS2, and PS3 that it's not giving me a good enough reason to buy one. I can certainly afford it with my salary, but it doesn't bring enough new things to the table. There's also the big problem of having to pay $38-50 a year for multiplayer, which I will never succumb to (or rather I will subscribe to it the day I pay to use Internet Explorer after buying a PC and paying for my broadband internet connection). So why should I buy one and get stuck with a single player experience (unless I upgrade to Gold) when I already have more than enough games in each single genre on the PS3?

With the release of Gears of War 2 and the various JRPGs, I have been eyeing up the 360 ever since the price drop, but its still not enough. The only thing that could tip the balance is Star Ocean the Last Hope, free multiplayer, and confirmation that all the SKUs are Jaspers.

So I'll sit at my PS3 buying games and D/L content whilst paying nothing for an evolving PSN and Home, waiting for Microsoft to give me reason to buy the big black box.

Bigger, better more frequent true (e.g. not available on PC) exclusives and a price cut on XBL.

Reviews don't really qualify as a reason to get a PS3. Since most are corrupt anyhow.

It could be the greatest game out there, doesn't mean someone will automatically love it or even want to play it.

Everyone has different tastes.

Besides where are you getting those review scores from? I'm sure as hell Resistance 2 got a 8/10 from most every major reviewer.

S4NDM4N6024d ago

yes but reviews give an estimate to a gamer on how good a game is

INehalemEXI6023d ago (Edited 6023d ago )

Warhawk is reason enough alone....MGS4 is just not subtle....and KZ2 is overkill. Free PSN....Mod support...region free ....easily swappable HDD....GoW3, WKC ...FF13VS, R2, MAG, The Agency, DC online, infamous...so many reasons to already own a PS3.

TVC156023d ago (Edited 6023d ago )

It's pretty clear the person who posted this plays game for fun.
I'm not even going to address anything else you said, but
When you list "easily swappable HDD" how does that have anything to do with what the author is saying?

Are you implying that easily swapping an HDD is loads of fun?? :|

INehalemEXI6023d ago (Edited 6023d ago )

you can put a 400GB HDD in a PS3 easily..for $99...That is room for many, many, many downloadable games..he is asking the ps3 for reasons to buy it. Thats a good reason IMO.

It is not the HDD itself but what goes on it that is loads of fun. Thought that would be a no brainer.... Same thing with blu ray's larger capacity = HD movies, and large epic games ie, MGS4.

Yes but theres a flaw in that aspect. People see the score and think
"Oh man this game got a 8,9 out of 10 it must be awesome!"

They play it and their response may or may not be quite as effective has the review stated.

I remember When Fallout 3 came out it was said to be awesome by every reviewer, I tried it and quickly stopped playing after 2 hours..The gameplay was choppy, the controls were ass, and the interaction with other people was retro.

As the saying goes "not everyone is into beer, but prefer another beverage even if its not popular"
