Bad Company 3 - Release dates?

Its sad to say but 2 years have passed since Sweetwater, Haggard, Sarge and Marlowe blessed our consoles and PCs with humor and grace. Their 2nd outing exceeded expectations and managed to sell 12m copies across all 3 platforms. Naturally EA was be impressed with a spin off to the Battlefield franchise to sell so well.

However this has left them in a rather awkward position of having 3 big FPS titles to deal with. Battlefield, Bad Company and Medal of Honor. All of which sell well yet none take the market share that EA want. After Battlefield's first outing in over 7 years gamers started to leave the ever growing behemoth of Call of Duty as Peter Moore (COO at EA) believed it took a chunk of the market share.

Medal of Honor's latest foray is releasing this October and with Battlefield expansions for the whole of 2012 It leaves one to wonder "Might Bad Company 3 be EA's last FPS designed for this generation of games?" As E3 seems so far away I would hate to get my hopes up however I wouldn't be surprised to see Bad Company 3 with a release date of either March 5th, June 25th or October 29th 2013 release dates. The last date is approaching possible 8th Generation consoles though.

I would like to state that my assumptions are merely opinions and have no factual basis behind them.

I'm gonna say it.

Bad Company 2 was much better than BF3. Better class balance, better vehicle balance, better map design, better campaign....it was a better game.

So I'm ready for Bad Company 3. Bring it on.

Better vehicle balance is the only thing I agree on. I think everything in BF3 is done much better, and the weapon mechanics are the best I've ever used. It has such a satisfying feel to the gameplay, the Bad Company games have this really weird feel to them that makes it seem unreal. It's hard to explain though, but i'm not bashing them, I still love them both. Maps I like in all of the games, no issue with any of them except the one in BF3 that has that choke point in the tunnel, forget the name. As for campaign, BF3's was so bad for sure, but this is Battlefield. Nobody thinks of story when it comes to Battlefield, at least the original fans.

I agree. Battlelfield 3 is much more of a "oh shit im in a war here!" feeling for me. The classes, I feel, are much more balanced in BF3. Combining the medic with the assault class was an excellent idea and makes reviving much more of a substantial gameplay element. Giving the sniper more team based equipment such as the MAV, SOFLAM, and radio beacon really made the scout a much more team oriented class than the "selfish" scout from previous battlefied games. And all around the classes seem to mesh better in combat. Now the only problem is finding teammates who actually use these team based elements rather than just running and gunning. But yea, the story was much more lacking and the vehicle combat is HORRIBLELY unbalanced as of now. Hopefully the next patch fixes those issues.

I also think that Battlefield 3 is better in almost every aspect.

The attack choppers in BFBC 2 were overpowered as hell.

"The attack choppers in BFBC 2 were overpowered as hell"

Oh come on. In BF3, you can climb above all of the vehicles' and turrets' aim radius and use flares to not get locked onto ever.

In BC2, even people with machine guns could do substantial damage to the helicopters.

BF3 sp was so bad, i was like i dont remember bfbc2 sp being so bad it was actually good. The mp i havent been able to put much time into but there are many things that annoyed me during the beta and are still there. Disappointing game, especially the sp its just so bad, MOH was much better sp aswell.

- A skilled heli pilot could dominate in BC2. Ground vehicles on the other hand, would get lit up quickly by tracers.
- Gustav-trotting engies were a bane.
- Maps occasionally had horrible choke points, and conquest matches would often end in spawn camping.

Only thing I miss from BC2 is the art design. (The exclusion of prone was also nice)

Other than that, BF3 did a better job of the remaining gameplay mechanics, with the biggest improvement being the movement.

The only thing I liked from bc2 was the uniqueness in the weapon balance. Basing weapon damage off the caliber was such a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug e mistake in BF3

BALLARD324839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

I agree with you 100%. Everything is better in Bad Company. Every time I get in a firefight on BF3, it seems like I either get decimated or I have single digit health left. Getting the drop on someone shouldn't feel like you're gambling your life. Weapon balance in BF3 is horrible. The vehicles are unbalanced as well. Six rockets to destroy a tank? Three to destroy a Little Bird. What a joke. Don't get me started on the maps in BF3. I can't believe they thought the console community would be mature enough to use prone correctly. I'm holding out for a Bad Company 3 and hoping they continue in the direction they went with BC2.

As stated below this game is sequal to battlefield 2, NOT bad company.

So if your not a fan of the series and just got attached to bad company then I guess I can see where your coming from.

But just to be clear, Dice is continuing with the series in the direction that they always have and bf3 is no different. I think fans that have been around since 1942, such as myself still very much support and love what they are coming out with.

artdafoo4838d ago

Agree 100%, seems they went the COD rout with BF3 and threw all kinds of stuff in it without thinking about the most important thing in a MP game, BALANCE !

geth1gh4836d ago (Edited 4836d ago )

I beg to differ somewhat. Also your comparing apples to oranges since Dice has stated numerous times that BF3 is the successor to BF2 and NOT bad company.

BF3 multiplayer stomps bc2 in most regards. I will say I miss the open maps where EVERYTHING can crumble to the ground but all in all, I love the bf3 multiplayer in comparison to bc2, especially now that I own bf3 and bc2 both on the pc. The comparison is outta this world.

64 players in a game really just seals the deal on the "battlefield" experience"

Now the campaign is where bc2 takes the cake. I realize bf3 was trying to make more of a realistic real world thriller, but I would take the comic relief and general silliness of the bad company squad any day over the bf3 campaign.
