"Woe Of Gaming"

Hello Gamers, I could go on and on about articles, blogs, forums and news i've read about this "Woe of Gaming". This is either brought upon by people who do not understand what 'growing up' entails OR they desire to re-live their childhood experiences and only honor 'nostalgia'. I can assure any under 20 year old gamer, the days of NES and before were not all as wonderful as people pretend they were.

Most games were not balanced properly, had poor sound, poor graphics, rampant glitches, no game saving, incredibly difficult and or frustrating, lack of game direction (becoming lost) and a slew of other problems. Lets also not forget about the Hardware problems as well; The irritation and tricks, the licking and blowing, the clicking nonsense, and it was like this until discs. (and with discs came new different problems). I would like to point out a few quotes from this generation of gamers and respond with the write-up at the bottom.

"GTAIV was Horrible." (Quick Question..Why? Because it didn't have the options of the previous installment? Yet it had an entire online component. Its ok if you do not like the game, but to say it was horrible is complete nonsense.)

"Games are Too Short." (ok. So 6-12hrs of gameplay is anything new? What about all the old games? The only difference was, they were so difficult with no save options it would take you weeks to complete them. Maybe you should Beef up your difficulty setting when the option is available?)

"There are No Good Games this Gen. Gaming was better with the retro games." (Obviously, this is completely untrue and anyone who says this is denying my argument at the bottom.)

"The Wii is Fun." (In-context of implying its counter-parts are not, does wiggling a wand really bring you the child-hood joy? ummm...No.)

"Megaman 9 gets a 9.5/10"
(This is nostalgia at its best, and has no merit of a score like this, with today's standards.)

Everyone is becoming so confused, that I need to say something, because i'm simply tired of all the negativity and mouth spouting "Woe of Gaming" discussions and comments.

Let me quickly Explain a few things.
1) This generation games is not any worse then any other generation. If anything they are better because they offer more for the consumers.

The internet is filled with kids, teens and adults that don't either understand themselves or don't understand what is actually happening in their heads as they grow older. Everyone has been filled with such ferocious negativity, because they are seeking something which they will never again find. Each older gamer seems to be seeking the same feeling they got when they were a young kid playing a video game.

The idea of this ever happening again in any of our lifetimes is completely nonsense and only someone searching for an invisible treasure would look for this. It will simple never happen, and if it does it will be a single game out of a 100, because it is unique in some context. You may come across 'that game' that induces 'SOME', (That Word is Very Important),of the awe-inspiring feeling, but the simple fact remains...You are growing up, Your mind is filled with Stories, Strategies, Ideas, Play Mechanics, Graphical Fidelity Benchmarks etc... You already have a Mental Library of all the things You wish to 'Re-Discover' for your first time. This is simply impossible. People are seeking to look at something for their first time, when they have seen 100 shades of that same color for years throughout their life. You will never feel the way, you felt when you rode your first bicycle, by riding any other 2 wheel object. You would have to do something completely different. A unicycle would give you a different feeling, but is it that bicycle riding, childhood joy feeling? Probably not.

You want to test my theory, Simple... Ask any child who just started playing video games. Someone who really games as a hobby. Say: "Tell me about X Game, that you are currently playing. Is is good? What is good about it?" (Remember short-attention span, asking about there current endevor will yield better results then about a game they played months ago.) I bet you are met with feelings of excitement, satisfaction and big-smiles, for the simple fact that it was 'new' to them. And their brain absorbed that 'New Stimulation' so quickly it was almost euphoric for them.

That is the real issue...Growing Up. So please Stop pretending your childhood games were better, or there are no good games to play, or the games aren't long enough or any of this complete nonsense, because in reality that is simply not the case. You will never be a Kid again, and you'll never re-live your childhood experiences. Because you already had a similar experience. Why can't you just be happy with what you have, and enjoy the the differentiating features of the existing games?

As far as the megaman9 score, nostalgia alone yielded that score, and any modern standard would of put that game into a much lower score bracket. Who would really say the 8-bit megaman's were better then the megamanX series, Sorry. Everything including, Gameplay, Strategies, Breadth of the game and Graphics were improved upon. Even if you argue the old one's are better, you can't possibly argue a game offering Less, with horrible graphics, and no online support should garnish a 9.5/10 or anything near that tier. I'm sorry, nostalgia has blinded anyone who disagrees with this.

The days of the NES era were classic but I enjoy the new games this gen as well as old retro gaming. I have to have both as a gamer. I also really liked GTA IV as well!

If all classic games were better we would all be playing remakes of E.T for Atari. It's a mixed bag some games were good some were bad just like now.

I enjoyed the demo so I'll be picking this up. The gameplay made me think of Metal Max Xeno so it sold me on it.

Stellar Blade Day One Update 1.002 Adds New Game+, Removes Offensive Graffiti

Shift Up has released Stellar Blade day one update 1.002 on PS5, and those who preloaded the game should be notified of this update.

cliveo3211h ago

Lol who is offended by it 1 percent of crying snowflakes of course..

blackblades4h ago

What did it mean? Considering I'm in my own world these days.

Christopher2h ago

Hard R is typically a reference to the N-word with the hard r at the end.

Eonjay1h ago

Do you really not know this is about the n-word or are you saying that black people can't get offended because it upsets you?

Christopher2h ago

I can't believe they're censoring this game on day 1. Games just aren't the same.

/s in case it's needed. I'm fine with them making these changes that they might not have known is culturally insensitive to some people in the big ole world. But that's just me.

VersusDMC2h ago

They are censoring something that is deemed offensive by Journalists quoting the offensive term verbatim. They are typing it intentionally in articles while in the game it's a wall texture saying Hard next to a unrelated 3d model sign that says R store. Is it offensive or not? Crazy town.

At least IGN just shows the term with a screenshot of the game. Because it's their "discovery" and to not show hypocrisy in their HUGE vitue signal.
Hard R is the not offensive way to describe an offensive term. Are they going to type "Ha$$ R" or not use the term now?

Christopher1h ago

Oh, hey, I agree with you that IGN and other journalists are dumb. Not disagreement there. But, I think for a game going out to millions of people across the world? It's not something they want associated with them. It's just horrific PR.

Tacoboto1h ago

Add to the horrific PR nightmare that this is the first major Korean-developed Sony-published title, if I'm not mistaken.

There aren't that many Korean developed titles in general. And the allowance of this only would drive a bigger fissure in east vs west especially after Final Fantasy XVI released featuring no black characters at all...

Not a good look for Sony regardless of how you personally feel about it or the people that talk about it.

VersusDMC47m ago

I'm not saying it shouldn't have been changed. It's an easy fix and looks like it was an easy fix.

But the word HARD being too close to the letter R being a horrific PR nightmare and a indication of a racist developer is beyond crazy.

Stevonidas2h ago

Pre-order cancelled. They were so close.... then they had to go and bend the knee.

Eonjay1h ago

If you can't enjoy the game without knowing there are racial slurs plastered on the walls, you might actually be the snowflake.

Tacoboto1h ago

"Hey why didn't you get that game? I heard it's got that hot Korean chick?"

"I was gonna, but then they removed a reference to the N word!"

Crows901h ago

I'm offended by the sight of blood a d violence and find violence to be very insensitive...

We can all play stupid and pretend to be offended by graphics and fake worlds.

DFresh38m ago

I really enjoyed the demo.
I'm going to play through and max out on story mode then go to the challenge mode afterwards.
This game is very challenging but fun.
Especially for timing on the parrying and blocking.
Got the Deluxe Digital Edition (PS5) pre ordered.
