Dark Horse/Backburner Game?

Right I usually don't do blogs, or even post comments for that matter but thats besides the point, seeing as Pops and dedicated amongst other of you do quiet a few good blogs, I figured what the heck.

Sure this blog will have nothing to do with the Phil Fish fiasco, which I have no idea nor the slightest interest in to be honest, instead this blog will cover what has been some of the top notch games this year, I'll cover what I think are the top games in general and give you guys my thoughts on what will take many people by surprise.

As I'm sure many of us here on N4G have our favorite genre/platform to game on. I haven't played these due to not having the console or bought the game so i'll put an (*) next to those.

*Last of us: Keep hearing great things about this game, personally Naughty Dog has made me regret having an xbox 360 more than once. But hopefully if I ever get a PS4 I'll have access to this game and ND games.

*Metro Last Light
*Tomb Raider
*BioShock: Infinite- Gonna be honest here never played any of this franchise and I feel like i haven't missed out. Just not my thing.
*Fire Emblem: awakening-Must play this!!
*Luigi's Mansion
*Pikmin 3
**Watchdogs- Jump started the hype for Next-Gen this game will be solid.
**GTA V- should be great like any other R* game.
**Battlefield 4

The game that I, emphasis on I, think will be up there and one fiercest competitors is non other than.......

TOTAL WAR: ROME II

Some of you will go Total WWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH? no i'm afraid we still have to wait for a Warhammer game from CA but still.

Rome 2 is probably on of the most epic games which will be coming out in 34 DAYS!!!

114 factions, 12 factions so far confirmed as playable, were given the option to re-create our history. Bringing down entire walls that fortify capitals, yes ENTIRE walls not just sections, want to create your own great 13th Legion you can! They get wiped out, you can raise the banner again.... after you reclaim the lost eagle. Want to set burn to Rome, DO IT!

Want to bring Spartan's back from being second rate military power and restore them to the times of Leonidas, you can!

This game can't be talked about enough, and I swear I rarely see any news on this on N4G or any other gaming site.

Now guys what games, do you think will take others by surprise, and have great chance at knocking the top contenders so far.

Till the next one I'll leave you with this

"You wouldn't believe how many times I'm misquoted" Julius Caesar, shortly after defeating the Nazis during the Battle of Waterloo, 1975.

hopefully VRR via a firmware update is released for docked play as well (like the PS5 did post release)

fr0sty2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

There's actually a pretty long list of games on PS5 that support 120hz. Even more with 60+hz unlocked, and that isn't even counting PS5 Pro.

err...is it even HDMI 2.1 on that thing?

repsahj3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Yes, according to the dock teardown. It contains HDMI hardware chip of Realtek RTD2175N that supports 4K 120hz. And the HDMI included on the Switch 2 is HDMI 2.1.

I'm happy for Nintendo. Even though the Switch 2 has received so much hate just to bring it down, it hasn't won. Even though some are saying they'll boycott Nintendo, it hasn't affected sales. Especially now, with word of mouth that the system is good, demand for the Switch 2 will definitely increase more.

Profchaos7h ago

Yeah loud minorities that were not going to buy it anyway

Profchaos7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

But But the internet told me the switch 2 was going to be a failure.

Such a good system im having a blast with it and really enjoying my first ever playthrough of yakuza 0

Sold through or to the stores? Asking because they're tons of them at my local Best Buy. When the PS5 and Series consoles launched, you couldn't find them anywhere.

OtterX4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

The article clearly says sold. If it were shipped, it would say shipped.

Nintendo had been saying the last year or so that they would be flooding stock so that scalpers would not be an issue. They've followed through with their word. It's not cutting edge tech, so it's been easier for them to sit on stock for a while until it accumulated to a massive number available to be shipped.

Good for them, I'm still not buying.
Looks to be a pretty safe and boring upgrade over Switch 1 which I don't think they can top it on how plain looking it is design wise.
Shame since Switch Lite showed they still know how to make a handheld that looks good and is actually portable in a classic Nintendo sense.
That's why I got one over Switch 2's block of charcoal.
Then there's the prices of it all and the whole Key card thing destroyed any sense of game ownership.

Profchaos4h ago

There'll be a number of revisions for the s2 like a s2 lite or oled also seems inevitable

Good-Smurf3h ago

Unless they drop the prices and actually has a more portable variant that can also dock then maybe I'll reconsider but as of now, nope too big too boring and expensive to make it worth this early, not enough of its own games atm as well.

Profchaos3h ago

Who knows removing the dock capabilities would lower the cost of the unit pretty significantly.

The cost of the dock, reduction in shipping costs etc bug savings which will enable a cheaper system
