Please remember this is my personal opinion, if you disagree respectively give yours and be constructive and unbiased. It also worth noting that I didn't play several graphical powerhouses such as Rage, Beyond Two Souls and GTA V (I however seen this played on PS3 on my TV ).
15: Red Dead Redemption (Played on XB 360)
Red Dead Redemption set new standards for open world graphics, the draw distance is impressive, characters are detailed. However there are some poor textures on non characters in cutscenes. The hair on the very real looking horses is also very fake looking.
14. God of War 3 (PS3 exclusive)
God of War 3 is a very good looking game. However; it relies on fixed cameras to achieve this and has a small character counts and small environments. Also the games backgrounds at times are rather weak.
13. Max Payne 3 (Played on XB 360)
Max Payne 3 has a very detailed world and character models. Everything looks great minus the hair on some characters. The environments are however small but the game has great effects during combat with a good amount of enemies on screen.
12. Dead Space 3 (Played on XB 360)
Dead Space 3 was easily one of the best looking multiplat games released during the 7th gen. The game has detailed environments and very impressive textures and lighting. However it is the games rather static look that keeps Dead Space 3 form being ranked higher .
11. Far Cry 3 (Played on XB 360) .
I found Far cry 3 to be very impressive looking for an open world game. The environments characters and effects are highly detailed. Unfortunately the game has some noticeable AAA issues during cutscenes.
10. Tomb Raider (2013) (Played on PS3)
The Tomb Raider reboot released in 2013 was easily one of the best looking multiplat games on PS3/360. The games environments and effects were detailed and allowed for stunning set pieces.
9. God of War: Ascension (PS3 exclusive)
God of War:Ascension had some of the most impressive character models I have ever seen. Kratos' character model was arguably the best I have ever seen on consoles. The game exceeds its predecessor God of War 3 in terms of graphics in every area. However the game relies on fixed cameras and small environments to preserve graphical detail also the games' background are not that impressive.
8. Crysis 2 (Played on Xbox 360).
This games looks amazing, however it has a low framerate unless the game is installed. The amount of post processing in this game is impressive as are the models. Also the game engine can struggle during more tense combat situations.
7. Killzone 3(PS3 exclusive)
Killzone 3 was the successor to the first game that truly showed the PS3s' graphical prowess. The games' post processing is amazing and so are the weather effects. However I found the facial animation to be lacking. Also the game had some poor textures on structures, particularly when viewed up close.
6. Uncharted 2 (PS3 exclusive)
Uncharted 2 was released in 2009 and still holds its on with even the newer released console games listed here. The games facial animations are top notch, models are amazing and weather effects bring Drakes' world to life .
5. Uncharted 3 (PS3 exclusive)
Uncharted 3 has a number graphical improvements over it older sibling. Fire and explosions are better looking and characters have received improvement to animations, their faces are also more detailed.
4.Gears of War 3 and Judgement (360 exclusive)
While the Uncharted2/3 arguably have better cut scenes and facial animation than any of the Gears of War games. The Gears of War series has better textures in addition to its lighting system rivals the PS3 juggernaut. Gears of War 3/Judgement ranks higher than Uncharted due to larger environments, greater draw distances, more detailed enemies and greater amount of onscreen action. The placement of Gears and Uncharted were close, but gears slightly out edges its rival (in my opinion).
3. Halo 4 (360 exclusive)
Halo 4 is the best looking exclusive game on Xbox 360. It managed to have real time cutscenes that surpassed both Uncharted 2/3 and in game graphics that bested the previously mentioned Gears of War games during gameplay.
2. The Last of Us (PS3 exclusive)
The Last of Us is best looking exclusive game on the PS3. The Last of Us has all the graphical aspects of Uncharted 3, more fin details to the environments during gameplay. While there is some slow down, this is minor and seems to be random.
1.Crysis 3(Played on Xbox 360)
I personally consider Crysis 3 to be the best looking 7th gen console game, while Halo 4 and the mentioned Gears of War games have better multiplayer graphics. The amount of graphical bells and whistles (lighting models, textures, effects and tessellation) during the campaign make this game the king of 7th gen console graphics (in my opinion at least).
Honorable Mentions: Killzone 2 (PS3) Alan Wake (360), Mass Effect 3/2 (360), Batman Arkham City/Origins (360/PS3), Halo: Reach (360) & Resistance 3 (PS3 exclusive)
Fallout London hasn't exactly had an ideal launch—crashing issues have been reported by players—but overall reaction is still posititve.
Console Creatures writes, "The BioShock film at Netflix is still happening but with a reduced budget."
It's 10 years too late for a BioShock film. The world of Rapture would have been perfect for a film. It's actually a good candidate for proper utilization of 3D, for increased depth rather than bullshit popping out of the screen. It could really show off the underwater city that way. But BioShock as a brand is so irrelevant these days that a film just doesn't make sense. Especially considering it would need a big budget and top notch effects to really take advantage of the IP.
Netflix greenlights anything, so that shows me very little faith in the project. Enough to just crap something out as they're, more and more, known to do.
I'll laugh if it turns out to be better then the Borderlands movie
The Pokemon Company had retail sales worth of 10.8 billion US Dollars in the year 2023, based on the latest report.
that merch tho.
ridiculous the numbers they pull in, which makes it even worse when i think about the low budget broken games they make. or have made recently
Good list, I'd argue gears of war was inferior to uncharted however. I got the impression gears was very linear with its environments with pretty backgrounds uncharted felt more dynamic.
Also, final fantasy xiii had amazing visuals for its genre. As did the witcher 2, just cause 2's world, journeys artistic style, hitman absolution looked great too, and Sforza or gran turismo always look nice :).
Skyrim should be #1 on everyone's list IMO if you played it on PC or 360 that is. They really put a lot into that game graphically, especially for the size.
I like your listings some of these games i have played, but others not so much. You graded them accurately and i admire that.though i do say Halo reach could've made the top 5 but still very cool and adequate.
