Star Wars Battlefront I Don’t Believe Your Graphics..?

No Campaign Mode / Plus 40 Player Cap

So by now we have all seen the amazing trailer of Star Wars Battlefront, what an amazing piece of tech it was, and what an amazing job DICE has done.

-But how much of it was actual game play / Yes we know it was using the in-game engine but how close will the actual game-play get to these insane graphics. Well….? Lucky for us some reports have started coming in, from people who were at the Star Wars celebration that this is indeed how the game looks. How crazy is that. I still don’t know if I can believe this.

Wait, Wait Mr. Star Wars Battlefront: Not So Fast? That’s all I was thinking when I saw the trailer, but I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited about this game I can’t even put it into words.

The only thing that has me worried is the graphics just seem to good to be true, and with DICE not showing the hud, they really made me wonder how much of this is real and how much of it was Killzone.

Killzone? Yeah remember that trailer they released at E3 2005, so many years ago when everyone thought it was going to look and play like that, and be this amazing epic game. Well I do, here in case you forgot what it looked like - ( https://www.youtube.com/wat... ) Only to later find out that was a target render. Yeah I don’t think PS3 gamers will ever forget that. But this feels a little like that, and I hate to say it, but I’m a little worried, since they could have easily done this like Uncharted 4 were you could tell for sure when someone was playing.

I’m hoping Star Wars does not turn out to be a let down after seeing that trailer, because I don’t know if fans could take a let down on such a beloved franchise.
Another thing is that some of the game play has been reported as being on rails, like the scene of that big AT AT Walker. I guess we will have to wait and see, but that would be a shame if it is on rails. I mean that just seems like something you want to run free with. Shooting people up with and running over trees. I just don’t know, it will still be as cool if it’s on rails.

Then there is one more thing that has me concerned about Star Wars Battlefront. And that’s the Multi-player only, that just seems like a really missed opportunity. I really thought we would get a campaign, in fact I couldn't’ wait to dig my teeth into it and get all the back story. This is Star Wars were talking about here, come on' how cool would it have been to get back story on things we will no doubt see in the movie. I can't think of a better time to do a campaign, but this is not to be. DICE has instead decided to focus the game only around Multi-player. Is campaign a dying feature in games, I mean sure call of duty has for years has had a 4 to 5 hour story, which would seem laughable, when compared to other games, but not when you come across a game that has none. Absolutely no campaign.

Not to mention the campaign is where the game really gets to shine because you can do effects and visuals you just can’t do in the Multi-player. But sadly there is no campaign. That to me seems really disappointing but since games these days tend to be all about the Multi-player (Titanfall I’m looking at you) I guess I can see why they did it, but I’ll just keep my fingers crossed on this one and hope that DICE knows what they are doing and hopefully they have delivered an experience that will surpass anything we were thinking of.

Oh, and I don't know about you but I'm tired of hearing about this is fun or this looks really good, it's like every other article is hyping up the game. Don't tell us anymore, Show us.

If it's as good as you say it is, then why in the world are they not showing it? Show us already, I'm really starting to worry because even a small clip or a snapshot of the HUD has not been seen. In my humble opinion that's never a good sign.

And then there's this, just in case you were not worried before, you should be now- "There are no iron-sights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters," Bach said. "You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no iron-sights." -Wait Whut? - DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach. You can't be serious, how in the world can this be a good thing. I just don't see how that is going to make for a better game. I'm beginning to feel like we might need a demo before I can actually buy this game, I just don't want to get burnt again by DICE after the whole BF4 (battlefield 4) launch on PS4. That was a nightmare, and hearing these kind of ideas just makes me feel like DICE might not be the company that really understands gaming the way they use to. I guess we just have to wait an see.

So I guess I'll just leave you with this one question, is there anything that really has you worried about this game? Or are you confident that DICE is one with the Force and they will not fail you?

"Is there anything that really has you worried about this game"?

The fact that Dice is making it, and the first thing they tell us about the game is that we're not getting a fraction of the features that us Battlefront fans used to drool over. I expect this game to be a generic clone of MODERN battlefield slapped with a Star Wars skin; but the clone won't be as good because they cannot overshadow their love child of a series.

In response to your title, what graphical quality is there to believe? We've seen zero footage. We've seen "in engine" footage. Which can be made to look as nice as you want within the engine's limitations.

@ garrettbobbyferguson

yeah that was surprising to me too that they don't seem to be trying to do anything Battlefront fans would want. But I guess it's because they have their own vision on what the game should be like..(fingers crossed, hoping they don't get that wrong)

and on graphics, you know that's a very good point, the engine really could be pushed to make things look amazing, but that means nothing if it turns out it won't look nothing like that when it's actually in game. Very good Point. (I'm really worried about that since we still have not seen it running in-game yet)

"Their own vision"

I think this is what I hate the most about this reboot. Their own 'vision' sounds like a cop out, like an excuse as to why they're refusing to add any features. Not to mention, if it is their own vision, why not make a new series (aside from the fact that they want the sales from the name Battlefront alone).

As someone who's been a fan of the series for over 10 years now, this situation honestly feels like Dice is spitting in my face and giving me a big F**k you.

I read someone else's comment stating that DICE does not plan to use classes, which was a major mechanic in the previous games. To simply not be the same human rebel as the 15 other players beside you. This is a change I don't agree with, but I will wait to see what they actually make of the game once they truly reveal it to the public.

in regards to the graphics and the reveal trailer they showed. That means nothing to me. Anyone could put something together that looks amazing with pre-rendered imagery. I want to see actual gameplay, even if it is scripted multiplayer and everyone has their "role". Show us the HUD, show us what it's like to be a soldier in battlefront.

I'm tired of reading these articles of how much fun the game is or how much the developers loved working on it. Because frankly, I don't know what they have been working on. There is so much content cut from this game, I don't know what all their man power is going into.

I was excited when we saw a teaser 2 years ago on Hoth and the snow speeder, i was a little disappointed with last years E3 and no gameplay, but still hopeful. This past reveal didn't show any gameplay. If I don't see anything by this E3 next month, I'm waiting to get this game until I hear reviews from actual gamers

Kill zone graphics were great back then......Oh.

rezzah3272d ago

I see you mention demo, but to me it appears that companies are releasing a demo months after the game's release. It is a method used to pull in gamers who have yet to purchase the game, if at all.

Plus I think this generation is generally lacking demos.

gbonez3272d ago

I remember back in the day when you bought a video game magazine they'd often come with a disc and they'd have demos and other goodies on it before the games release. And they would help you get excited for the game and make you want to purchase it. Now a days demos are, like you said, released months after the initial release, that don't help at all unless you don't have the console at the time of release and late getting the game. But the average gamer often doesn't wait several months to play a new game
