Ok well I'm back with a new topic for me to rant about and now its Franchise Exclusivity. Now where all involved in this godforsaken fanboy war in some way. We all have our inner fanboys that sometimes come out and rear their ugly heads. But lets take a step back and talk like civilized gamers.
So we all know this console war has been wrought with big franchises going exclusive. Such as Tekken, GTA, Finaly Fantasy, and Soul Calibur just to name a few. There are different reasons for this such as corporate persuasion, ways to make more money, and maybe just a corporate decision. Either way our fanboys minds come up with random ideas that please our ego's or favor our console of choice such as "Ps3 phails thats why GTA aint exclusive no more" Or "360 multiplatform games are gimped!!" Either way where not discussing that. Where gonna discuss why its really not the consoles fault at all.
Well its a given fact that sony lost more franchises than microsoft. I mean back in the ps2 and ps1 era sony reign sumpreme stomping out the competition. This can be attributed to the fact that Sony has such a huge list of devs making games solely for the ps2. I mean there were tons of vaporware but for the most part ps2 has solid games. But if you look at it....they really had no competition. I mean there was nintendo and sega at first.....Sega died out and Nintendo lived off its first party support among various third party games that sold the system fairly well. I mean all devs had to really develop for is the ps2. It sold amazingly well and really didn't have much to compete with. Time went by and the the first xbox comes around. It looks promising but suffers from system reliability, being late to the market, and of course be an expensive system to make and new tech to dev for. It had its fair share amount of games such as Halo but it eventually was discontinued due to being to expensive to make and not having alot of Triple AAA games against the ps2 monster house.
The main point I am trying to push is yes sony has alot of exclusive games under its belt but alot of those came to xbox later on but for the most part devs could develop at their leisure and only really had 1 viable system to develop for. I mean it would make sense to dev for the system that has a 50 million console lead over its competitors. Furthermore now that the console war now its more even...it would make sense to develop for all 3 systems as no system has a huge edge over the other. Thats why I get angry when people try to downplay a system that lost exclusivity. Yes the game may have been gimped but right now in a economic downturn thats "worldwide" companies need to make all the money they can get and its a very different playing feild now that its more even with the 360 at 30 mil and ps3 at 24 mil vs the ps2 at 140 and the xbox at 24....(I know the last gen numbers are not what they actually were when the 2 consoles were at war but we can all agree the ps2 dominated last gen like the wii is dominating now)
I mean kudos to the devs who make exclusives games for both systems as it helps show good games but we shouldn't downplay multigames as some of them can be good aswell.

What an incoherent blog. This ranks up there with an Action B. or mrnintendo96 blog.
The ORIGINAL Xbox suffered from system reliability? It has one of the lower failure rates in console history. You use the word "discontinued" like it was the Dreamcast or something. Like it was a shoddy piece of equipment. It was discontinued because there was a new XBox on the market, not because it failed like you say.
"Furthermore now that the console war now its more even"
You mean, the console war is more even in terms of sales? Really? Because, last time I checked the Wii had quite the lead. So, from your blog, we can conclude that the Wii will have the most AAA games by generation's end. Why? Because it has a large sales lead and makes it the only viable console. Right?
"ps2 monster house"
"sony reign sumpreme stomping out the competition"
"they really had no competition"
"ps2 dominated last gen"
You must've REALLY liked your PS2.
Really? The original xbox? Are you talking about the power cords that got recalled? Because there was nothing wrong with the actual system. My launch day xbox still runs perfectly.
