There was nothing new on the game front and no surprises that is a bad conference imo.

The presentation was terrible. It had no heart and the games were not really highlighted well. When you take a step back and ignore the bad presentation, what they actually showed was really impressive. But that doesn't change the fact that the show was terrible. Terrible cringey dialogue in Gears, Scalebound, and sea of thieves. Lack of proper buildup for games, We happy few just sort of happened and I think that game will be amazing but the whole time I was like wait, is this some new bioshock? then when it wasn't I was disappointed.
There was no passion, and that is what I think a lot of people took away from the show, but if you look in hindsight the actual games have a lot of promise overall.

I thought Microsofts show was alright, nothing amazing shown but the pace was fast. Much more entertaining than Ubisoft/Bethesda/EA, it lacked huge announcements but I was never overly bored atleast

how long was sony's conference, seemed rather short?

well they had a couple of surprises like days gone and hideo kojimas game teaser but really not that much else we didn't know about. same with ms event. i didn't feel any more exitement over psvr, it still felt really flat. games like horizon still look amazing but i want to see more on the screen and see what the ps4 is capable of, you only get to see one of two enemies at once. detroit looks like the typical david cage clunky mechanics and still trying to bridge storytelling with action. the last guardian coming this october is very good news.

we do this every year, get excited and then the actual shows are just ok.

A lot of this stuff was 'rumored' not leaked.....so yeah if you could imagine every MS rumor actually panning out in a single conference, Battletoads, Age of Empires, Halo 6, New Rare IP, new Twisted Pixel IP...basically if all of that stuff happened & then some at the MS presser, they'd be even. Didn't happen that way though.

This conference was groundbreaking & phenomenal....I've got respect for your opinion, but if you can't admit that much I'll lose a lot of that. This conference was easily the most well out together in the history of E3 in years. I'm a Sony fan, but if MS put something like this together I'd absolutely admit it's genius. You need to do as much if you want to save any kind of face.

As far as VR, this conference maybe dedicated one sole minute to VR, less than any other company...in that minute they announced exclusive Arkham content for VR.

Different strokes I understand, but there was literally something for every console gamer here, all brand new & fully surprised....if you can't admit how amazing this show was, you are too far gone....easily my favorite E3 conference possibly ever.

We knew Kokima's game would most likely be there, but didn't know anything about it. Spiderman was expected, but not from Insomniac(which means SP is still due for a new game soon), and didn't know it would look like a spidey game should. GOW was absolutely fantastic, and the live orchestra was certainly interesting.

What most impressed me was that they actually showed VR in a way that cool and made me want to try the games. Thought that would be hard to do when converted to a 2D format.

Was kind of shocked when I saw COD because I thought it was Eve:Valkyrie and was enjoying the game play. Never thought COD would look that fun.

Resident Evil VR shows a lot of potential and got a bunch of cheers in the theater..

I'd say the rest was pretty expected, but the game play for that zombie game looks pretty fun.

Practically no filler talking about useless stuff and only brief moments of some PR platitudes.

i knew they would get something up quick from kojima, sony relishes in those moments that cater to their hardcore audience and they dont want to wait years after they signed him to show something. spiderman looks cool, strange insomniac seems to be doing so much that i hope they are not stretching themselves thin. gow we all knew was coming. i said before sony (and others) dont like sitting on valuable ip's and they have used gow to show off hardware in the past. it looks awesome graphically but im not a big fan of the franchise. yes the orchetra was cool and shawn was better than previous years.

not really to me. i still want to try it but the games seem shallow much like wii games, kinect games and playstation move games. they all share the apprehensiveness of going all out for a preipheral device. in a few years we will see the full impact of vr but right now it's amature hour.

lol, me too. i thought it was vr eve being played but again the game itself looks like been there done that and that engine is really showing its age now.

great, you bought a ps4 only for exclusives. or is this your way of saying i wasn't really interested in an xbox one and now that their games are also coming to the pc i will continue to just play on my ps4 and still not enjoy games like forza horizon 3 but use the pc as a conversation piece now?

Nah, Sony did very well, and gave me two more solid games I didn't know anything about. Still I was impressed much more with stuff at the MS conference....more importantly, MS talked about stuff that is coming out soon. The two games Sony surprised me with look great, but who knows when they will come out...they didn't even hint at YEARS that they would be released. So it's nice to know there are a few more Sony games I'm excited about, but when? Going into the show, the next PS4 exclusive game I was looking forward to was Horizon, coming out...it's still Horizon. My problem with Sony conferences is never the games they show, so much as how far out they announce stuff and it seems like they are only good for one highly anticipated exclusive a year (sometimes 2).

My god, I can't even think about MS conference right now...

If Sonys conference ended right now after 4 games it would already be head & shoulders above the rest & hands down the best conference at E3, no contest.

In fact, the quality of this conference so far has essentially knocked every other conference down a full letter grade from me. MS was a solid B, now it's a C....EA was a D, now it's an F. I didn't plan on grading on a curve but Sony has forced my hand.

God of War, Days Gone, The Last Guardian, Horizon....all scored live with a full orchestra. I don't get excited too easily these days but this conference is one for the ages. For my personal tastes it already blows away last years.

Every conference from here on out needs brand new reveals, full gameplay & a live orchestra to move my needle.

This is beyond amazing.

The orchestra was a classy touch. Wish I was at home to hear it, because the theater had crappy sound. and think that ruined some of the impact of the opening, but GOW was just amazing...with what sounds like Teal'c from Stargate playing the new GOW...so even better. Having the kid on the hunt was interesting. Wondering if they're going for a different approach with the story, or if the kid is going to kick the bucket.

Horizon was impressive as always.

RE:VR made it the first RE game in a long time I was actually excited for.

Spider-man looked phenomenal in the game play department despite only having small doses of it, but hope they have skins for this costume.

Kojima's game was pretty cool....at least it looks like his brand of wierdness.

Crash remasters are welcome, although disappointed they only showed Skylanders.:(

X-wing game in VR...how can someone not be excited for that?

Days Gone just looks like stupid fun.

Was actually interested in a COD game...but didn't know it was COD because it came right after all the VR trailers, and thought it was Eve:Valkyrie.(I don't follow COD).

Really good conference. Great pacing. No lulls. Even though last year had a couple megaton announcements, and much of the big ones this year were kind of ruined with leaks/rumors(spiderman namely), this year was just really good. Wish it had gone on for an extra 30 minutes as normal, because I was never bored, and in the theater people were loving the games and game play shown. I'm actually wondering if Sony held some back, because some of their major studios are still MIA, and Sucker Punch is due for a new release.

Great conference. One of the best E3 conferences ever. Congrats to Sony, they won E3 again. They have the best studios, they have the best games, they spend more money in exclusives…. that’s why they sell the most consoles. Simple as that.

Have to admit, Sony picked an amazing marketing firm to handle the PS4 PR. They are just killing it every step of the way this gen. Live orchestra at an E3 event...just awesome. Nothing but wall to wall games, with a nice mix of new IP's and established franchises, and nothing shown was boring....even skylanders. No time(or less than a minute) spent on discussing useless partnerships or PR pandering about how great it is to play on PS, or how many it's sold, or features/products which have almost nothing to do with gaming.

This should be the benchmark for E3's going forward, outside new hardware reveal stuff, and it's forgivable if they don't do live orchestras in the future.

I think just a trailer for the new God of War. The gameplay will probably be @ PlayStation Experience. As far as New console announcement, I think Sony will have a separate conference on February to talk about the New console just like they did 4 years ago. The reveal and pricing will be @ E3 2017.

if you can't simply read and understand i'll explain it on 3rd grade level.

once upon-time video games used to be good back in the 80's-90's early 2000 now gaming has evolve so much it's all open-world now. from my study and observation and experiencing open-world games myself my conclusion : they all the same. some kind of military format involve SHOOTING!! no matter what the title say the main engine is shooting military style. after watching this year E3 thats all we got "More" ramdom military style shooting open world games. from call of duty to mass effects, event horizon to new unknown shooters, to world war Z zombie type shooter, reboot of god of war "really". therefore i feel my days of playing video games is "OVER!!" in 2006 call of duty was cool it was fresh and new here we are 10 years later playing same format "open world shooters" developers have nothing else to offer outside of "open world anything" as i said as a ol skool gamer im bored playing same format over and over for 16 years nothing changed. what has changed no more variety in games on playstation it's all open-world any title shooter. for that reason my era of gaming as i know it is done. buying a ps4 is out of the question. my ps1- ps2 collection over 60 games my ps3 collection down to 5 games buying a ps4 only have 3 games not worth 399 as i said being a ol skool gamer at 55-60 my time is up.

p.s. how much longer can you guys play the same crap over an over an over an over each year?

Wow how do you guys feel about the close camera in God of war. I thought it looked great in the Norse setting so it might work with axe combat. Kratos in that world doesn't look as dumb as it sounded. I hope it's not as scripted as the demo though.

I think the only issue i have so far is that the game's are all a little too serious. Like when i heard they were making a post-apocalyptic biker game i expected something a bit more light hearted and crazy. Even GoW which is usually pretty meat-headed in terms of story seems to be taking a more serious route.

But there's still plenty of conference to go - just a nitpick.

I played Killzone 2 long enough to get platinum. It was not a good game. The controls were absolutely terrible and GG made them even worse by catering to the Call of Duty kids during that one update that pissed off many of us.

He's just hurt star...I haven't tried VR myself but I realize that the experience doesn't live or die based off of graphics & resolution. I'm personally glad that it is starting small, because it tells me that VR is here to stay. The first generation will be exactly that, but VR is a medium that deserves breathing room. It is essentially the technology gaming has been building towards for decades...all of the cameras & microphones & motion controls were all testing grounds to create integration into quality VR.

Beyond that, VR will break across mediums...I'm most interested in the PSVR exclusive Arkham VR content. Dying to find out what that is.

Yep, I always try to call it as I see it and for me there is no doubt that Sony had the best conference this E3. It wasn't even close to be honest. Sony just nailed it on every level. This is what I bought my PS4 for. Just a truly outstanding looking lineup, imo.

The only criticism that could be made for this conference was the lack of dates, but at worst this stuff doesn't all release until 2018....still doesn't make any difference to me, I don't see any other consoles that have this kind of quality lined up for the future.

To me, E3 is about the pomp & it is about the future roadmap of gaming. This conference perfectly encapsulates both, hence it's a perfect conference. TBH I enjoyed Sonys E3 last year but I didn't share the unbridled hype that many did for FF7 & Shenmue....this conference on the other hand was fully for my tastes. Just a masterclass in how to represent a console.

Yes, A guy with a gun running around shooting zombies has already been way overplayed.

So if you want to create a game in this already saturated genre you need another hook for me to get excited.

For example State of Decay hook is you're building out a settlement and teaming with interactive AI. Dead Risings hook is using dumb fun weapons to slaughter massive waves of enemies combined with its story that's cheesy and campy in a good way.

I still want to see what the "hook" of this game will be. And I thought this game reveal didn't show anything new or interesting to this genre to get me excited.

But we saw a small slice of the game so who knows in the future there's more to it.

Crash reveal wasn't a low, following it up with Skylanders was, but at least it was fairly short, and not boring.

VR experiences were mostly pretty good. Didn't think they could express the games very well in 2D, but they actually showed them well, and made me excited for Resident Evil again.

Days Gone, I'd say the reveal was kind of a low, but ending the show on it was a high, because it does look like good ol' stupid fun.

Outside Skylander, TLG was my personal low, mostly because while I'm happy they announced a release date...finally....and again....it's been shown so often it's not really something that gets me excited to see trailers for, but certainly looking forward to playing it.

But I do 100% agree the pacing was phenomenal. This is the first E3 conference where there was no boring lulls mixed in throughout. Perfect in that regard.

VR experiences are just that, experiences. They needed full games to really sell the their VR and they barely spent any time on it. It's supposed to be their big hardware this holiday and they almost showed it as an afterthought.

Their time for the show was allotted well before the conference. Theater had to be booked, and production teams to record it all had to be planned ahead of time. They didn't shorten it by taking something out. So overall, I'd say I was more impressed with the MS conference, it's harder to find things I WASN'T interested in...and I absolutely love how they handled Slim and Scorpio (already pre-ordered my Slim). Now with Scorpio doing the highest quality VR (presumably with Vive and Rift) I'm gonna skip PSVR altogether...esp since most of the best titles are on Rift as well.

THAT BEING SAID, the Sony conference was very good too...it actually genuinely surprised me with a few titles. I was never into God of War before...it's always been too mindless hack and slash for me, but this new one looks really good...and I really liked Days Gone. The only problem is neither of those have any release dates yet...so they are probably a long way off...so definitely on the list of "must haves"...but on the back burner. Other than that, the only exclusive I am excited about is Horizon. Being that I prefer X1 due to controller, UI, and network...I will probably play all the multi-plats on X1, and I wont even turn on my PS4 till Horizon (if there weren't soooooooo many great games the rest of this year already, I might have picked up Last Guardian though, but as it is I doubt I'll fit it in).

By no means am I saying Sony's show was bad, they genuinely surprised me and impressed me with two games (and potentially a third depending if Kojima lets his ego get in the way again or not...MGS5 was great, but not the direction/story...which was his role) Other than Horizon, Days Gone, and God of War...everything interesting at the Sony conference was multi-plat...even the VR stuff...and with VR now confirmed to be coming to Xbox with Rift...I'm going to pass on PSVR and do all my VR gaming there. To each their own, but I prefer all my multi-plat gaming on X1 due to the UI, Controller and Network...so to me, multi-plat stuff all counts as MS stuff...even if it's shown at the Sony show.

Both had ups and downs, but in terms of pacing and new reveals I give it to Sony. Microsoft showed us alot of games coming in the near future with alot of release dates, while we got almost no infromation from sony when those games will release.
I know Zombie Games are a bit old in this time, but yet I loved all 3 they showed. State of Decay 2, Dead Rising 4 and Days Gone are completely different takes on Zombies which I all like. One is pure Survival and instadeath, one is just Zombie Killing fun and the other reminds me of a mix between the last of us and World WarZ.

Really like the Crossplay/buy MS is pushing, I dont have to buy 2 Versions of the game just to play with all my friends across platforms now. Also loved that they announced the next console over a Year ahead, which gives me time to plan.

Sony Showed some great looking VR games and some cool 3. Party games. But I really wanted to see what NEO is all about at this point.

They had so much to show that the Dev talk took a step down. THIS is how you do E3.

In comparison, MS wasted so much time with Dev talk throwing adjectives at our faces, ruining an awesome games presentations with pairing youtubers in it, and wasting 20 minutes on freakin Minecraft. Seriously MS ?

To be fair, MS's show was 90 minutes, Sony's was 60. Yes they spent more time on Mincraft then I cared about, but I get why...the fanbase for Minecraft is MASSIVE and they wanted to demo the new tech/announcement they were making.

I think the main reason for the time difference is that Sony had hardly anyone actually come up and explain the game. They just showed game after game after game, with very little breaks in between. If you go back and watch MS, you'll see the developers come out and explain the game, which took up the time. If MS didn't do that the conference would of been around the same length as Sony's.

I don't know, Sony did well, but MS did better IMO...simply breaking the Gen barrier to me was THE big mic drop this year. Giving the gamer the choice as to when they want to upgrade or not.

Hey if they can give it the same fresh coat of paint that Rocksteady gave Batman, this might just be the first Spider-man I'll play since Ultimate Spider-man on PS2. Marvel's been lacking in the games dept outside of Lego.

Digging the WorldWarZ running zombie flood in the 'Days Gone' demo. Looks to take more of an action approach compared to the limited ammo of TLOU. Curious to see what else it has going for it. Between Days Gone, Dead Rising4, State of Decay2, Walking Dead season3, RE7 and the soon to be re-released Deadlight...I'd say the zombie demographic is covered.

I'm definitely a little Batman'd out myself. We still have that Telltale games Batman coming out soon along with the Arkham remasters, plus Batman VR. At least Injustice 2 is tackling some new characters from the larger DCU.

Flash woulda been a good VR tech demo methinks if they were looking for a first person cowl to stick you in. Just imagine seeing the speed

And I wanted to see more of The Last Guardian, too...

It's very easy to be a prisoner of the moment and let your emotions dictate your opinion on certain matters. I've had a few hours to calm down and to look back at the conferences retrospectively. That conference from Sony was one of the best conference I've EVER SEEN. The pacing was perfect, the content was heavy, unlike last year where there was a lot of hype but very little substance, this year there was plenty of hype and plenty of substance to go with it. They pulled off making me excited about VR without me having to even put a helmet on just based on the types of games available and the content there-in. It was just a stellar outing by Sony and a definite answer to the bombs dropped earlier by Microsoft.

The price of poker has definitely gone up. The kid gloves are off both companies.

The thing with Sony's conference was that they let the games do all the talking. There were no developers on stage explaining things about the games. There were no gameplays with horribly acted segments with people. Just games. It's what people want from these press conferences and Sony delivered. Plus they showed several new IPs that weren't revealed ahead of time.

To me THIS was their greatest E3 presentation ever. Not last years or the years before which had big lulls in the middle. This was a focused presentation a lot like the ones MS has been doing the last few years just games after games after games. The difference is the play demos are perfect cuts from these games that show what make them unique and fun to play. I feel like MS (and I enjoyed there's too despite lulls) really needs to learn to set up better looking play demos for their big games. Don't get me wrong Forza Horizon 3, Sea of thieves, State of decay 2 and Dead Rising 4 looked great but it seemed like they picked Gears demo at random, Final Fantasy was an abomination that should have just been a tightly edited package like at Sony's conference and Scalebound though I'm sure it will be a fun game just didn't look fun to watch. From top to bottom every play demo and trailer at Sony's conference was fantastic! They trimmed the fat this year and avoided the pitfalls of years past. So Bravo to them, I'm proud of all of my systems (Except mabye Wii U) but they definitely made me proud to own a Playstation. I get the feeling that some of this has to do with Neo being cut because they usually go longer but man did it work for them. Now I'm just left wondering when I'm going to get to play them.
