Why can't I finish games anymore?

looking at what i've beaten lately (mass effect 1&2, dragon age) and what i have preordered (reach, two worlds 2, gothic 4) i definitely seem to have gotten bitten by the long game bug. i used to buy a ton of stuff, tear through it and never touch it again or play a few levels and put it down. i've relegated pretty much every shorter/linear game to "get from gamefly" status. i simply wasn't getting my moneys worth, especially since i don't play online.

we're 2 sides of the same coin but i get where you're coming from.

I'am currently in this position. It seem this year I'am getting more distracted and influenced on what games to play, when to play them, what to buy, and what trophies to achieve. Because of the quick fix in buying a new over hyped game and playing for a few hours, made me realize that it has been real difficult to indulge in a game. Every time I have time to play I get easily distracted to play multi-player with friends or free roam on Red Dead Redemption. Maybe I just haven't found that game that in grouses me like how I was with Fallout 3 when I platinum it, I missed that. The way Dead Space captured me and through me in head first and I loved every minute of it. I will limit my media to video games as they influence me to much I'm just gonna see the game as is, without the stress of worry about trophies or media propaganda. I know when Fallout New Vegas comes out my Ethernet cable will be unplugged and I will be in my own lost world of incredible euphoria.

Personally my solution usually for that is that nothing at the time isn't cutting it an convincing yourself otherwise really doesn't work. Also I find a lot of longer games nowadays have horrible pacing an when you hit certain points it can really make you say I'll come back to this later an 1 month 2 months and your still not back at it. I really think its the makeup of games you mentioned with the exception of Deathspank because I have not played that an I'll explain why.

For me Dragon Age was one of these games for many reasons. Some people genuinely don't see the flaws but a lot just ignore them because its Bioware. I couldn't play that game past the first couple of hours. An as the developers talk about the things they will improve upon in the new game it seems I was right on all accounts. I felt in the start the story was already being stretched thin by the extremely slow and boring start. An as I went along further I just really wasn't feeling it. The combat felt sloppy and boring to watch unfold besides maybe the sync kills. An even on max on PC the game didn't look as good as most would have you to believe. An playing it on PC first and only I still didn't like it as others would again have you to believe.

Just Cause 2 I just started playing the other day ago and it was really fun for bit. Though its really not built to be played all out if you ask me. The intervals between major story missions is long and you end up doing a lot of the same stuff. It really just is what it is and is a game about blowing stuff up and clowning around to be honest. Red Dead Redemption was a good game but it even took me awhile to press through it given all the trophies an such. Its just one of those games that you gotta push through, I love the length but it did feel a bit stretched at times.

Though with the random fun to be had could break things up a bit. Its one you've gotta dig in for I won't lie but an it looks to be getting good dlc support. Modnation was cool to me but it just felt like a toy I'd have fun with right quick an then get bored with it even with racing being my second favorite genre. Infamous was another one that you gotta really dig in for if you want the Platinum. Though a single play through not sweating the trophies only requires a bit of time and no distractions.

You sound like me. I would feel like playing killzone 2 but end up putting in a different game.

What I did to fix this was the only game I left around the PS3 was KZ2 all other games put away. So I was able to play KZ2 because of that. Now I dont understand how I stopped playing killzone 2 or any other game I just stopped playing.
